I've done it before, but I really do need to brush up...too much English contaminating it. But on the other hand, it might be good to stock up on money while things are on the downside. The nice thing is, I'll be spending my Korean-earned money in Korea, so it won't 'locally' lose value.
Are you teaching an MA-TESOL course? |

I have been planning to enroll in a Korean language course at one of the big unis for the next year or so full-time...stop working. With things the way they are, do you guys think I'd be ok to take the course, or would I be better off to keep working and stashing the cash? |
Don't stop working, take courses in the morning and work at night. If you feel you're getting behind, try catching up on weekends and stuff. |

This country is crashing like so many other places. It is only a matter of time till you feel the reality. The exchange rate with the dollar and sterling is shot to pieces and the IMF have just decided that the UK will effectively slip into a recession.
Just a matter of time. |

Being Naive about this is dumb. It can very well happen again. I think it will get much worse if Obama is elected. |

During the height of the IMF crisis in Korea, an American friend was debating whether to exchange a wad of cash. We met at a restaurant in Itaewon. Was it Wendy's? There or near there.
He had all his money stacked up neatly in front of him on the table, two massive 'towers' of 10,000-won notes. We gazed at these Leaning Towers of Sejong when some whitey we didn't know walked by and chirped: "That's a nice pile of five-dollar bills ya got there! "
My friend was not best pleased. His notes had been worth, what, $12 a piece not so very long before.
That ain't scaremongering. That's just showing off my war wounds. |
