I think apart from the bars and karoake clubs, the nightclubs pretty much suck. Koreans care too much what others think of them. Even when they are supposed to be relaxing, they aren't even relaxed.

They really don't know how to do the nighclub thingy yet. Of course, they have the wannabes and kids like all pop cultureish stuff but they just don't know how to party. They are too busy trying to build up this country, they can't really breathe yet and let down their hair, figuratively.

I've got to check out Tokyo's club scene.

Don't know where you are, but I think Seoul has a pretty good scene. Some good clubs and top DJs play in Apujeoung, Gangnam, Itaewon and Hongdae.

From what I've seen. Foreigners don't care enough.
I swear to god, if I had a 50 won for everytime I saw a white guy bust out the robot, I'd make enough money to compensate for the exchange rate.

I've seen just about the most embarassing dances one could imagine, mostly stuff from the 70's and 80's, and then some stuff I swear to god they just made up on the spot (and not in a good way).

Although, Koreans can't dance either. they spaz in place.

Strangest extremes, you have the incredibly boring and the insanely stupid.

Regardless, enough Cass and Corona after a while, will create indifference.

I think the dj's are great, even excellent. But I don't think the patrons get wild enough. It's still restrained. They just don't really bust it loose so to speak. You don't feel the fire, you just feel they are imitating something they think is cool which almost everyone does to some extent but they don't have much passion in my opinion. They just really don't "get down" so to speak.

But the embarassing stuff, yeah, lots of uncool people exist everywhere. Even in american clubs, the same stuff.

Just what you said, they seem incredibly bored. Even when they are boppin their heads to the music, I don't sense they actually really enjoy it. It seems more like 'this is what we're supposed to do and like'

I don't sense a real enjoyment of the music etc. It should give you a thrill like the high you get on a roller coaster. I sense none of that vibe because everything they do is based on ego which i find a little offensive and snotty.

Exactly. Let's face it, dance music without drugs can get pretty boring after a few hours..

I can't complain thanks to worknplay and Uso. SO far I have found headlining acts that arn't too bad. Could be worse. I found that club volume (Itaewon) hosts notabale DJ's and some acts grace the sports complex evry noe wnd then. I recommend cheching both sources for upcomming events.

I don't like your judgemental attitude. Are you saying people should be more image-conscious instead of doing what's fun for them? They should bust loose, but only if they're doing something "cool"?

The other club patrons aren't there to provide aesthetically pleasing dance performances for you. Do you really want people to let their hair down, or is conformism more your kind of thing?

Hey, Hey!! I don't like your attitude either! IF YOU COULD READ, I was agreeing with the fact there are uncool people or people who cannot dance everywhere as the poster above me stated. Just a fact.

If you can't handle that, it's your problem.

And thank you for pointing out the very obvious that they aren't there to provide me with a performance. Really? Like no one could figure that out.

It's quite obvious you are a nerd simply because you don't even understand the gist of what we're speaking of. LOL

Actually, that's pretty deceitful of you to attack me for something another poster was just complaining of or being "judgemental" as you call it to a T!

NERDS!!!

(quote revengeof the nerds I, II, and III)

lol but seriously, there's dancing crazy and then there's "wow theres has to be some huge case of tainted E he got into"

Quite honestly I prefer to see some hardcore dancing on the floor and not the boring Korean style of standing in place, and barely twitching. But there are limits to what's considered dancing versuses insane.

What I've seen isn't considred dancing. Dancing goes with the music, the rythm, beat, and mood. Consistent actions that are predictable but changed during the course of the dance. Creativity? sure go for it.

Not crap like flailing your arms, hopping up and down in place, and and whipping your neck at other people. I've also seen like new zealanders doing aboriginal dances and what looks like a rooster approaching it's prey.

Don't get me wrong, I dance like pretty hard and unusal but I don't scare the Koreans within 2-3 yard radius around me. The object is to have fun with other people, not scare everyone around you while having fun.

I've always thought that night clubs suck. Waiting for drinks, shouting to be heard, a-holes trying to big up for the 'ladies'...who needs it. Give me a meat feed or a chicken hoff any day.
