Not at all. Teaching English is its own reward. I feel lucky just to breathe the air in Korea.

I'll wait until the end of my contract and see if the won recovers much, then decide whether to stay.

I was going to do another year in Korea, but now I'm set against it.

As for me, I'll just say that Japan is looking pretty good right now. I probably would have gone there next year in any event.

The tanking won doesn't hold a candle to the tanking US job market.

So your answer is 'Not at all'.

Me either really. Except for being more cautious about spending money. We got a 20% raise last week, so I feel more optimistic. When the crisis passes, I think I'll be doing OK.

All these threads should be imalgumated into one, all-purpose "The Won is Falling, Oh What Do I Do?" thread.

I agree.

On topic, the falling won has reduced me to making the minimum payments on my student loans; before I was making several times that amount trying to pay them off faster.

I'm still going to Thailand this winter. Hopefully I won't feel the exchange rate too bad.

The won is trading favorably to the Baht, and because of the political unrest right now in Bangkok, flights are cheap.
