I've been at my job since July 1st. If I want to change jobs, what documents will I need?
I know I'll need a sealed university transcript (I've heard that I need two, but I'll probably cross that bridge when I come to it since I'll probably order a bunch of them).
My criminal check was submitted in June for my E2 visa application. How long is this good for?
I guess the medical just takes care of itself. Just a trip to the hospital, but when changing jobs, do you need it before changing jobs? I know that if I change jobs mid-contract, I'll need a visa run to Japan. I've been teaching in Korea for well over 3 years, so the Japan trip is OK. So would I need to provide immigration with the medical report after my visa run?
Maybe a letter of release is needed to ease the process. I suppose that if I gave notice at my job, I could take care of getting a letter from my current employer allowing me to seek work elsewhere.
I guess my main question is about the criminal report. What's the deal with that when changing jobs mid-contract? |

Yeah, it's a strange deal. If I ordered one now, I guess I could have that on hand. It's just that it doesn't make sense. Something could change between now (or when I receive another criminal certificate) and when I actually apply for a new visa. Meaning that I could theoretically be brought up on charges between those times. Not that that would be a conviction. And if I were to be convicted of anything, wouldn't I have to be in my home country for that to happen?
They should demand Korean criminal checks for people already in country. |

I called and others on my behalf called Immigration 6 times and got 6 DIFERENT answers. ALLLLL different.
Yes you need CRC. Visa run> No you don't. Go back to home country etc.
They have no clue. However in the end I think I got the proper answer.
If you quit with 80% of or less of your contract completed you must go to immigration before leaving the country. They'll waive the CRC and its 50/50 whether you need to leave the country for a Visa run.
If you leave on a Visa run before going to immigration you must get a CRC.
Its ridiculous. Out of country for 5 days. You break the law, are triede & convicted in a court of law all in 5 days? Now that's service! |
