On Wednesday, finance chiefs of five of the six-member, oil-rich Gulf Cooperation Council approved a proposal to create a monetary union as a move toward adopting a single currency, according to the AFP.

Too late. The US dollar is already the de facto currency in much of the world. If anything, the move is away from US dollar hegemony.

One factor easing the transition toward a single currency is that the six Gulf Cooperation Council member states all currently peg their currencies to the U.S. dollar.

Since when did Kuwait, Bahrain, the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia constitute the world? Four of the 5 are hardly bigger than a postage stamp.

Yeah, but they all have petro dollars. If all the oil producing countries pegged the oil to another currency they could destroy the US currency.

Islam rising.

I'm not too hip on Islam taking over the world as the dominating imperialistic super power. When I say Islam, I mean the collaboration of Islamic nations that appear to be centered around Dubai. As long as there's demand for oil, there will be Islam rising.

How do you think they'd treat us if they are in charge???

I think if Petro-Dollars became a defacto fiat the US would immediately tap all of their own Oil reserve and start investing heavily in Fusion.

The only way to stop Fusion is to keep Oil Produced electricity under $0.05 per Kilowatt/Hour.

Don't know what that equates to in Barrel prices.

One thing that's killing the Europeans right now is they have a single currency, but a bunch of different governments, so it's hard for them to work together energetically to stem the crisis.

So a single currency for multiple governments is actually a bad idea if you're thinking about the current crisis.

And why would they do that? If you had billions of $$$ sitting in your bank, and now with loads of US property and US companies going for a song, would you destroy your own wealth?

Yeah. It's just about a group of nations seeking to form monetary union. East Asian nations have been talking about it. Nothing about a one world currency in their discussion. The article itself adds that slant. Geez. Is there no right wing christian fundy pablum fiveeagles won't take in his mouth and beg on his knees for more?

Kill us for helping the Jews. It has to be one of the reasons Oil went up to 4 bucks a barrel. The Islamic nations are testing our economies to see if we can withstand some economic warfare.
