I am merely in a fairly long rant that is supported by a mountain of news articles.

I hope that this thread can serve as a forum for intellectual discussion regarding these issues and may provide insight into Korean culture.

If you can't positively contribute to this thread, then go somewhere esle.

I'm just not sure that flooding us with tons of articles that will likely go unread is a good way to positively contribute. Case in point, a topic that usually stimulates conversation on this board has only netted two serious replies.

Anyway, you already Godwinned, so I don't expect this Hindenberg of a thread to go much farther.

This is a very interesting thread and many of the links are eye-opening.

It appears that Racetraitor thinks that Dave's is filled with idoits that aren't interested in intelligent discussion.

It is interesting that Racetraitor used Godwinned which is a slang term used in posts to indicate something ending. However, this word is not in a standard English dictionary.

Ironically, Godwin was a:
Quote:
British writer and political theorist who believed in the perfectibility of human nature and maintained that people could live harmoniously without laws and institutions. His most important work is Enquiry Concerning Political Justice (1793).

Source: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=Godwin

Using this term only highlights the original purpose of this thread and others: namely, to improve (and perhaps perfect) the human condition in this country (i.e. live together more harmoniously) which I hope can be stimulated through intellectual debate, which appears to be something that Racetraitor is quite unfamiliar with as he used a term to "put me down" which in reality only strengthens my point. Thanks.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_Law

Godwin's Law: "As a Usenet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one.

For example, there is a tradition in many newsgroups and other Internet discussion forums that once such a comparison is made, the thread is finished and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically "lost" whatever debate was in progress. This principle is itself frequently referred to as Godwin's Law. It is considered poor form to raise such a comparison arbitrarily with the motive of ending the thread."

Well, here is another connection with Nazi's.

It is groundless and intellectually lazy to compare Korean protesters (or most other things) to Nazism. You could just as logically compare them to other protest movements such as the Boston Tea Party or the hippie movement, or to deep dish pizzas from Pizza Hut.

I was hoping you would post some videos about the South Koreans protesting the nuclearization of the Penninsula by the Norks?

Or maybe a the time they protested against the North Koreans smuggling Meth into the south.

Or that time they protested the Coast Guardsman who was killed by the Chinese fishermen that were fishing illegally in Korean water.

Or the big Mad Coffee protest against Chinese products tainted with Melamine.
