Since MM2 and most of the secular media wants to portray Christianity as evil, I thought it would be interesting if we can find good stories.

Quote:
Pastor Bertrand Crabbe of True North Community Church in Port Jefferson Station, NY, knew one of the members of his burgeoning congregation had won big in the state's Ba-Da Bling lottery, but when the member decided weeks later to donate the entire winnings to the church, Pastor Crabbe was shocked, but recognized the extraordinary generosity.

Yeah, funny how that works. It's a sin, until the church finds a way to benefit from it. How long has that been going on?

"Drought Breaking Rain" Comment
Posted: Tuesday, 7 October 2008, 13:57 (EST)Font Scale:A A A

The Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC, was credited as the drought breaker when 3" of rain fell in Bourke on Sunday in the first stop on Her Excellency's Murray Darling Tour. The AAP report on the 6th of October 2008 quoted Bourke Council Economic Development manager with saying, "We should thank the Governor General. You can't go much higher."

Warwick Marsh from Australian Heart Ministries who was the co-ordinator of the Murray Darling Prayer Pilgrimage ( www.murraydarlingprayer.org.au ) made some strong comments about the AAP report. "It is still too early too say if the drought has broken. Only a successful harvest can confirm the end of the drought. The good news is that the rain at Bourke has been widespread. In the last few days since the end of the Murray Darling Prayer Pilgrimage, between 5mm and 50mm of rain has fallen on much of the Murray Darling basin.
The
rain began to fall within 48 hours of the completion of the prayer pilgrimage which was celebrated at 5:30pm on the 1st of October 2008 at the Junction of the Murray Darling at Wentworth. Prayer pilgrims gathered for the final ceremony at the junction with representation from SA, NSW, QLD and Victoria.

The Mayor of Wentworth Marg Thomson greeted the many prayer pilgrims with a short speech and a prayer along with Victorian State parliamentarian Peter Crisp and other church leaders. Ps Peter Walker an Indigenous elder and I invited those gathered to kneel by the river bank as we asked God to send the rain and heal the land. We all had a sense that God had heard our prayers."

Warwick continued "The purpose of the Murray Darling Prayer Pilgrimage was to rally people together to pray for a final end to the drought and for a flood of rain to fill the dams and clean out the Murray Darling River System and avert a human and ecological disaster. Australia's constitution says "humbly relying on the blessings of almighty God" not the "almighty Governor-General". We congratulate Her Excellency on her interest in the Murray Darling Basin but the praying people of Australia give full credit to God for hearing our prayers and sending the crop saving rain. The Australian Constitution has said it well. We humbly rely on the blessings of almighty God. The widespread rain is a direct answer to prayer as much of the rain was not predicted.

Ps Peter Walker and I give all the Glory to our Father in Heaven. We also would like to thank the many churches and individuals who prayed for rain as part of the prayer pilgrimage. It is important to appreciate the work of the Australian Prayer Network and the Australian Indigenous Prayer network who supported this historic prayer venture. Let us all look to our Father in heaven for continued Drought breaking rain."

Here are some stories about good Christians who donate a lot of time and energy every year to spreading cheer.

This man works hard every year in preparation for Christmas, when he donates large amounts of toys to charity around the world.

This woman does volunteer work for free, visiting children who are having dental problems, and donates a great deal of money to them every year to take their minds off the pain.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tooth_Fairy

This guy, commonly recognised as the first Pope, brings cheer every Easter, arriving in homes and hiding chocolates, candies, and other treats for children to search for in a scavenger hunt.

Three outstanding individuals who dedicate their lives to spending Christian cheer.

People will do good or bad things depending on if they are good or bad people, so Christianity has nothing to do with being bad or good on an individual level. On a societal level, religion, especially Christianity has caused much more harm than it has given back.

No, be fair. At the present time, Christianity isn't responsible for much more than a couple wars, ruining a few million people's sex lives, and promoting a little bit of ignorance of a few small aspects of science. Christians are as a whole much more secular than Muslims and I'd be willing to bet Hindus as well. Of course Christianity when it was as strong and fundamental as Islam was every bit as awful, just used to prop up kings and convince the peasants not to revolt. There are exceptions of course, but for every Northern Ireland there are five fundamentalist Islamic states.
