I have seen post after post about people asking how to get a uni job, and the responses are often, "it helps if you know people." So how do you get to know people? If you're looking to meet other waygooks and rub elbows with people in good uni and public school jobs, I'd certainly check out this event.

Cambridge Day is coming again in Busan on November 8th at Pusan National University, and in Seoul on November 9th at Korea University. I try to make it to this one every year. That and KOTESOL are great ways to meet other teachers and network. They usually give you free books and stuff in a sort of goody-bag at Cambridge Day, anyway. I remember that it's on a Sunday this year.

I'll try to get the list of speakers up soon (there is a flyer in my office). I did find a link for it, but no speaker info on there. The one name I remember wasn't actually ESL-related (Dr. Linton, who I believe works at Yonsei Hospital). That's probably why I remembered his name -- ha.

Oh, I just found a list of speakers. I recognize Steven Gershon, and will certainly learn something from him for my presentation class:

I'll be going to the KOTESOL conference, but not to network; hopefully some of the presentations will be worth seeing.

Yup, presentations are worth seeing at both events. KOTESOL info can be found here: http://www.kotesol.org/?q=IC08

Why are you so angry, Tony Blair?

There are lots of boring threads on this site. My advice? Do what I do: click "back" once you realize you aren't interested and don't click on it again. Then find one that interests you.

Tony, you have 2 current polls/threads about finding good recruiters. Obviously, those threads are aimed at networking, finding better people to work with and ultimately, better jobs.

I'm surprised to see you call this thread boring as it is a chance for teachers to network with, work with and ultimately, finding better jobs.

To each his own, though. Bassexpander, maybe you are relaying too much information and are, in fact, boring. Please provide some links to breasts or something next time.

Given his join date and posting history/style, I nominate Tony Blair as the most likely to don a porn avatar in the very near future.

As trashy as this sounds,

I'm willing to take a KTX down to Busan just for this "goody bag"

What kind of materials are included? Good stuff? Or generally, stuff that will make me buy more stuff?

As for the networking, sounds excellent. I'm more interested in meeting up with some UNI professors, I have a friend whos interested in teaching UNI so this will be a great opportunity for ust to check it out.
