Who's bought a netgear router in Korea?

I figured if I got an American brand i'd be fine since the install would be available in multiple languages.

Actually the installation was retarded and wouldn't let me install saying:
"The network adapter in this computer is not responding.

You must use the Installation Assistant on a computer with a working Ethernet adapter." (no help on their site for this problem)

It did this for both of my network adapters Rolling Eyes

Anyway, so I bypass this by plug in in the router and the rest of the install goes through, only problem is the language setting is all in Korean when I login the router's IP address.

Does anyone know how to change the language to English?

Quickest way to get some answers is to throw up some screenshots of what you can see in the routers settings.. Otherwise tell us the exact name of the router.

Which settings do you exactly need to see?
That pic should do. Now just wait for someone who can read korean to tell you what to do next.

Have a look here to download the english manual from the netgear page:
http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/wgr614v7.asp
The link is on the left side of the page listed under 'Documentation'

Must download and install the english firmware. The model type should be on the sticker on the back of your router. Find the appropriate d/l and update with new firmware. Problem is you will have to work your way around the Korean to update the firmware before you get it changed to english.

With the prices of Linksys (Cisco) routers getting lower, if you want the best all around router that has the option of installing open source on the router, stick with hardware on this list...

http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices

This will allow you to add tons of features to your dirt cheap routers. For instance, my router i bought for 43 dollars and it allows me to piggyback my entire network on the best open wireless access points (automatic selection) that it can find...and since i live in one of those massive apartment complexes...needless to say i don't have to pay for the 100MB internet that my fellow korean's do!

In my business ventures in the past, i have learned to steer away from netgear and dlink and just save yourself the headaches of diagnosing poorly thought out systems. Linksys has picked up the quality that Cisco has lived on for an eternity.

Yeah, it's fairly easy to flash the router to the English version of the new firmware. All of the menus are the same, so you can see an English screenshot of the process and click the same menu items that the picture of the process in English shows.
