while I hesitate posting a topic requiring the skills of something a bit more precise than lifting a glass of (name your favorite alcoholic beverage) in one hand, scratching your privates in the other - and wasting neurotic synapses on digital action devised competitions -

I do realize there actually might be someone out there who knows about, and possibly even owns, a digitized drawing tablet. Wacom makes several and I saw them for sale in Ipark mall, but of course the twisted f*ck at the counter didn't have any connected to a computer and wasn't willing to connect one so I could see how they actually worked.

SO - anyone have one of these? anyone buy one here in Seoul? for a windows or a Mac? does it matter? can I use it on either? (I have both) should I just order it from overseas? the prices on the Wacom site seem pretty reasonable - last time I saw something in K it was over a million won and I backed away so fast after seeing the price I never saw the brand or how it worked.

possibly - but why the mouse?

does it need more than the one already with your computer?

I've never used one of these before but am taking an online animation class and everyone is talking about them - I know they've been in development for some time now and was surprised to see how far they've come.

As I understand it the mouse is specially configured to the tablet, so it will be more tightly integrated (precise) for those who want to use it for drawing.

It's less convenient for regular windows use though due to the higher friction.

Try a cruise around Technomart or Yongsan. There has to be a shop somewhere that will let you try. Or see if anyone here has one that you can play with.

I have a tablet PC (Thinkpad x61T) that I like a lot. I don't use it for drawing, but the stylus is very smooth for markup and regular use.

Wacom is the only way to go. I started with a graphire, I had a bamboo as well. Great boards. I also have a intuos which I left in Canada. They arre amazing. Their is a learning curve to them.

so are you using a stylus?

I wouldn't dream of using a mouse - that's the whole point - what I was waiting for tech-wise - was for the accuracy of the stylus to get there; it's there now and I really want to get one but am just hesitant until I can try one out for myself.

do you use your bamboo on a windows machine? I understand it's good on a win or mac -

They are very accurate. THey are fun to use aswell. I used a stylus but I used the mouse for other Window activities. PC are great with a Tablet.

I saw a booth selling a bunch of Wacom tablets Saturday at Technomart.

They work pretty well but it's definitely worth it to go big. I bought a small one in college and while it worked great for my photo editing, cheaping out and getting the 4x6 was really a waste of time. My friend spent real cash and got a big tablet and the improved ease of use really made all the difference.
