I checked the stores, the web sites, and haven't seen any. I haven't checked the Red Door in Itaewon as it's so gosh darned far requiring 12 hours round trip bus travel, 2 hours subway, and 65,000 won. I seen EasyshopKorea.com sells pumpkin pies if you're interested which appear to be made from American canned pumpkin.
So, I want to bake a pie as well as make sweet pumpkin bread. I'd love to share it with the Koreans I know to get their reaction and opinion to something so delicious they haven't ever seen. They loved my oatmeal raisin cookies as well as chocolate oatmeal cookies. Yummy. Send me some more oatmeal and pumpkin pie spice too, please. |

you can find them, but they are normally in the rural areas. We have a lot around our home between Seoul and Chuncheon. You just have to take a trip into the country where the locals tend to have more things for sale than you'll find at the markets. Check out a local street market in a community around you. They do have them here. |

Wow, I'm in rural Gangwon country between Gangneung and Wonju and don't see anything like that, but these weird pale skinned pumpkins and bundles of strange seaweed as well as weird mushrooms and tiny hand sized bundles of wood at the 5 day market. It's all traditional wares. It's extremely limited and reflects what old Korea was like.
Your serious? Orange classic pumpkins are grown in Korea? I've never seen them in all of my explorations and experiences of Korea. That's great if they got a hold of some American seeds and grow them, but I want in on it too. |

I can't seem to sign up on this livingwell2u.com website. It keeps rejecting my alien card number and even my husbands. Any ideas?[/quote] |

Most vegetable markets have a small green round pumpkin, it's called Dan Hobak in Korean (sweet pumpkin). Just bake it for about an hour and scoop the insides out and use it to make your pumpkin pie/whatever. It's about 2-2500 for one and that'll make two 10" good-size pies.
Good luck! |

Yes, you just enter, "pumpkin," into the search, but you can't actually buy it as it doesn't let you. I'll enter 3 or 4 in the # of cans and I get an error message pop up and then the number resets to 0. Try it and see. Might not be in stock.
I'm not sure how I'd pay on this site or if it takes ARC numbers for registration. You'd think Gmarket would have canned pumpkin and pumpkin pie since Costco sells it as almost everything Costco has is on Gmarket in small quantities. Gmarket actually has more foreign food stuffs than Emart and Homeplus stores carry, but it's still limited selection and the site is not as user friendly as eBay and other Ecommerce sites. |

Pumpkin Pie Spice = Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Mace, Cloves.
Make sweet potato pie and spice it properly, it's not the same, but it's damn awful close and a fair sight cheaper. |
