Now that summer's over I'd like to start running longer distances. I ran the full marathon in Vancouver a few years ago, and vowed I'd never do it again. The first half was great, but the second half was brutal on my knees, so I'd like to give a half-marathon a try.
My contract is up in the middle of April, and I haven't decided if I'll stay or not, so I'm curious if anyone knows of any half-marathons preferably sometime from February to early April.
I'm in Daejeon, so I can get pretty well anywhere in the country for the weekend (although I don't want to fly to Jeju). Ideally, something along the water or somewhere scenic would be nice, but I'm open to any suggestions. Any ideas?
Thanks

I'm not a runner, so I can't give you specific details.

I can tell you that there's a new free magazine that I picked up in Itaewon called "10" that has a whole page about half and full marathons, dates, locations, etc. You can get the free magazines all over Itaewon. Try the Pita Pit, or the chiropractors office (that's where I got mine).

Thanks, rowdie3.
I don't live in Seoul. Do you happen to know if there's a website for 10?

Hey guys,

Lots of races in Korea and Seoul. No need to worry, every weekend atleast 5-6 half marathons!

I started a running club 2 years ago. The guys and gals are still running Sat. mornings along the Han. I haven't been to the website I made for awhile but lots of members and a calendar there to help you. Message someone. http://runkorea.ning.com

I've been injured for more than 6 months and as is my fashion, have just hid away like a sick dog...I'll be back Smile.

I would recommend a really good Half along the Han from Yeouidu in March. quite big, goes to the west and back...

there are quite a few up around seoul every weekend, at the end of feb this year there was on in Geoje, running from Haegumgang beach to hakdong beach, (i think it was those two beaches anyway) you run along the mountain road, so it's very very hilly and prob not the best idea if your knees aren't up to it.

it was on two weeks before the half marathon that was held along the han, so you get time to recover and go do that one as it's much flatter!!
