Yep Tiger Beer, that's why I've lived in three cities there. Like you, I think that Hawaii and Nevada are the best US states. I've never been to Burning Man, even though I lived close to it. I came close to going once, but couldn't quite arrange it. Yeah, I first started listening to Art Bell when I was in Reno. I loved his show. UFO Highway, I've done that. Poker, not a big fan of the game. Showgirls, really nice. Neon lights, great to see. Love how the place gets lit up at night. Deserts, love the desert. Excellent hiking and solitude. Memories like these make me long to go back when I get back to the US in a few weeks. I'll be exploring the Southwest(southern New Mexico, Arizona and California, and perhaps a couple nights back in Las Vegas ). Cheers. |

Whirlwind, hope you are enjoying the Southwest right now!

As for Asian restaurants, my favorite Thai restaurant is there in Vegas. Its called the King And I. Its a small place and off the strip area but not too far from there.
Also, I have done a lot hiking on Mount Charleston and in Red Rock Canyon. I cannot recommend those places enough times. |
Funny, I have ate at 'King and I'...good Thai food indeed.
I've been examining Southern Nevada..and between Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, and Mt. Charleston...there does seem to be a lot of great outdoor attractions....then just expand a bit more, and Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Zion Ntl Park, etc. So many really interesting areas in the area.
I think many people, myself included in the past, haven't really examined Southern Nevada and just write it off as desert with casino....period. That certainly exists (not a bad thing), but certainly only one myopic focus of the region. |
