| Ok so i found a computer i want to buy in g-market and its at a good priice put they are telling me that this computer "requier join KT-WIBRO obligaroty" ..... what the hell is KT-Wibro? I think its some kind of internet service,, wich if it is a good deal i will be willing to join. Anybody got anything for me? What is it and how much does it cost? |

It seems to be a satellite internet service. Bascially broadband that you can use anywhere. So it might cost a lot, though it would be cool to have. There's an English section on their webpage but it's pretty minimal.
Satellite internet can have fast transfers but slow upstream and a lot of latency due to the time it takes to transmit the signals. So good for webpages and direct downloads, but bad for uploads and games.
I haven't read anything about satellite broadband in years, though, so maybe it's improved somehow.

I'm posting this while sitting in the subway on my Everun UMPC with my little WiBro dongle. Wibro is kind of WiFi on steroids with a range of several km. The cost is roughly 20,000 a month. Good deal.
The catch is that it's Seoul and bundang only for now. Also your connection may drop periodically if travelling. It's good for mobile use as there aren't many good options.
If the PC is a good deal and you wanted the net on the go then it's great. Otherwise a home cable/wifi is far better for serious use. |

Wibro is Korea's name for wimax, which you can read up on at wikipedia. The computer you are looking at is probably at a sale price conditional upon you signing up for a year or two of wibro service. There was a post here a couple months ago about someone seeing an Asus EEE PC at about a 150,000 won discount if you subscribed to wibro. |

I used WiBro for 2 weeks and here's my take:
If you are commuting then WiBro is fantastic. If you are trying to use it indoors, you are going to be REALLY frustrating with the signal strength.
WiBro is also a Wireless Card too, so you have the option of hopping on the nearest Nespot Wifi Hotspot if your WiBro signal sucks. Also, WiBro does have a download limit. You go over, you pay more. |

There is a limit. They have 2 plans. I don't remember the specifics, but one is like 5gb/month and the other is like 30 gb/month. |
