|
|
My school has midterms next week and I have no classes scheduled. I am sneaking off real quiet to Thailand to spend some of my strong U.S. Dollars as represented on my American bank card.
I am looking for a five-day buddhist retreat to see if I can squeeze in Nirvana in before I get back to finish my term -- unlikely, but it's been done.
Where should I go? Any ideas? |

So I'm guessing your school is letting you stay home during midterms. Great! I'm always wary about sneaking off becuase people seem to get screwed in the worst ways...I guess don't accidently show your kids vacation pictures haha. |

Why not just go to a retreat here in Korea. If meditation is the goal doesn't matter where you are. If you ask the question on Expats in korea meditation group on facebook people might be able to suggest some places in Korea or Thailand. Vipassina usually takes 10 days for a retreat.

There's an online site for busy westerners like yourself where you can attain Nirvana at a considerable discount. I forget how much, but it's pretty cheap for an authentic religious awakening plus freedom from the eternal cylcle of birth and rebirth. Even better, they'll send you a certificate to put on your wall. Try the search function on Ajarn.com. |

I was in Gyeongju last week and went to this temple. They have a pretty cool stay.

Oh, I don't think it will be a problem. I'm not going to advertise, but I think everyone does the same thing (unless they want to sit in their office and brush up on their present perfect continuous).

Good idea. I already booked my flight but I'll sock that one away.

Wow! Guess I didn't have to go to Thailand. Thanks for the responses.
