I don't hold foreigners to a higher standard than I hold myself. Oral sex is illegal in the state of Georgia. I've broken that law and if foreigners want to break it too, I think that's okay.

According to this article in the International Herald Tribune http://www.iht.com/articles/2004/10/18/news/sextrade.php?page=2?pass=true 20% of Korean men hire prostitutes four times a month. If Joo thinks I'm bad for hiring something like 12-14 in my whole life, then I guess he must really hold an arrogant opinion of those guys. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with them. We're all sexual beings. Some of us even admit to it.

I guess Joo and I might as well end our debate here. He's always talking about how these people should be bombed, those people should be killed, that world leader should be assassinated, RJjr needs to die, etc. Laughing Life is too short to spend on a forum where some are so obsessed about the death of humans. There's so much more to life than being unhappy and angry at people all over the world, most of whom we've never met. I'll walk off into the other direction and celebrate life and the act that creates it. Very Happy

"RJjr"

As I said I may have read it wrong , but I read you right.

If the enemy gives up their war , then their will be no problem.
Their policy is the problem not the US.

Anyway Rjjr You say that agreeing with the US governments' version of events in the case of the USS Liberty make's one the equivalent of a holocaust denier.

At the same time you are pretty apologetic of Saddam's slaughter of the Kurds . You referred to them (the Kurds Saddam killed ) as terrorists Which not only made you an apologist for Saddam it was also just incorrect.

All your posts -not just one tell who you are and what you are about.

In the end Rjjr if you weren't a a bigot , an apologist for the enemy , a propagandist and a disinformation artist not to mention a sex tourist , and pornographer you wouldn't be what you are today.

I think the US ought to find ways to get mideast regimes to kill off Al Qaeda supporters. They can if they choose to. Example in the early 90's .
Egypt destroyed the group Egyptian Islamic Jihad. If mideast regimes are scared enough they might very well do it too.

What do you think the US ought to do? Serious question.

Sorry it took so long to get back to this question, I felt it deserved a thought out answer. Ok, so how are we supposed to defeat Al-Qaeda. Here it goes.

Al-Qaeda is an fundamentalist, idealogically driven force. First and foremost we must realize that it will never be defeated militarily, at least not within the restrictions the modern world and our own morality place upon us. I propse to defeat it with a combination of political and idealogical means combined with proper and focused policing/intelligence.

1.) First I would propse that we absolutely press full speed ahead with energy independence. America should use the current economical situation to push for a comprehensive new energy plan. I belive this approach can kill quite a few birds with one stone.

A major overhaul and redesign of America's energy infrastructure could provide thousands if not hundreds of thousands of new jobs. It should start with major funding from the US government. If you can put a man on the moon and harness the power of the atom is it beyond reason that you could redesign your nations energy infrastructure for the better?

Being more independent can allow you to untangle yourselves from the mess that is the middle east as well as stimulate your own economy.

I don't only propose a major initiative to increase energy independence, I propose a sort of renaissance if you will. America needs to press full speed ahead with new clean energy technologies as well as other technologies. Make your country the envy of the world it deserves to be. You have the money and the resources. Do it.

2.) A resolution to the Palestinian problem. To put it bluntly there is no reason why you should be supporting Israel when they are oppressing another group of people. Israel should be encouraged to make concessions.

Give up some land and give the Palestinians what they need to be a self sufficient homeland. This should be coupled with even greater American aid to Israel. Make it clear that Israel's acquiescence in this matter is not a sign of weakness. It is distasteful but a physical barrier may need to be completely put into place to protect Israel from suicide and other terrorist attacks.

After that, Palestinians get support from the west on only one condition. Peace. They mess up and all gloves are off. Support democratic powers within Palestine, show them with hard cold examples how it pays to be on your side. Schools, hospitals, clean water and irrigation. Arab nations also have to step up to the plate. They constantly whine about the plight of the Palestinians when all to often they prey on their situation and use them as a distraction from their own pathetic regimes. A free and prosperous Palestine will allow the people of these countries to focus their attention on their own countries, where real change needs to happen.

3.) Honest and open discussions with Iran. Iran's youth are some of the most highly educated and friendly to western values within the middlle east. Iranians desperately want change at home but it is almost impossible to push for this change within the current geo-political framework. A solution to the palestinian problem will undercut and mitigate the Iranian regimes need to support Hezzbollah.

America cannot act alone here. America's allies also have to back it up when it comes to using carrots and sticks to prod the Iranians to follow a more pragmatic path. It is integral that we somehow get Russia and China to back us, or at least, be a little less hostile to how we approach Iran.

Iran is not the bogeyman. They have suppourted Hezzbollah, of that there is no doubt but they have not, to my knowledge, ever directly targeted the United States. The resources of an entire oil rich country could certainly have helped send over a few terrorists if they had really wanted to.

4.) You have to get out of Iraq. Saddam is dead. You have done your job. It is now up to the Iraqis to determine their own future. Do you leave them to the mercy of merciless terroritsts? Absolutely not. You give the people a choice.

Do you think it inconcievable that after years of occupation it is beyond the ability of the only superpower left in the world to set up, maintain and defend just ONE city where the water was clean and the electricity ran 24 hours a day? Give them this, at the fraction of what military operations cost, and THEN and only then will you have won the Iraqi's hearts and minds.

Stop the raids, the checkpoint shootings, stop the detentions. Is this what you think the Iraqis want and need? Give them an alternative. Quite frankly you lost the war the moment you decided to protect the oil ministry and let every single other institution in Iraq be pillaged and destroyed.

Support those within Iraq who offer true hope to the people. You don't need boots on the ground. With enough money and technical assistance there are more than enough Iraqis to defend their country.

5.) This in someways is connected to my first point, energy independence and a technological renaissance within the US. I think we have to get off this notion that globalization and trade with EVERYONE is somehow a key to prosperity.

America needs to become that shining beacon on the hill again. America needs to project it's power culturally, technologically and diplomatically.

China supports a middeast regime that has openly called for terrorism against the United States? Well FUCK YOU China! You DO NOT get to export your cheap ass goods to our markets anymore.

Russia supports a regime that steps into overthrow a democratically elected regime? Well FUCK YOU Russia! You do not get to access to our new super efficient solar technology.

Iran is still supporting terrorists that attack Israel even after they have gained independence? Well FUCK YOU Iran! We won't buy your oil. Neither will Canada, Britain and the majority of Europe because we don't need to anymore.

But this will hurt your economy you say? So be it. If ANY country on the earth can be self sufficient it is the United States. Honestly ask yourselves. Why is it that America, or any western nation actually, need to buy from China, Russia or any of these despotic regimes?

Is it because our own population is unwilling to work in factories or doesn't have the know how to produce lead based paint and melamine tainted dog food? Bull shit. Buying from these countries makes one entity rich, multinational companies that do business with these people.

I never understood the reasoning behind abandoning democratic and moral principles so the CEO of a company can have 400 billion dollars in profit instead of only 10 billion. Holy fuck! Isn't 10 billion dollars enough for anyone to live even semi comfortably?

Make it so no country in the World could possibly want to be on your bad side. Not because you will bomb the shit out of them if they don't but because the downside of not being your friend would suck so bad.

Gitmo interrogation methods in US jails

Thu, 09 Oct 2008 02:46:25 GMT

Civil rights group says the US Army has used the Guantanamo prison's brutal interrogation techniques on terror suspects in the US.

The so-called "Guantanamo protocols" -- sleep and sensory deprivation, prolonged isolation and death threats -- had been applied to mainland prisons despite attempts by some military personnel to improve harsh conditions, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the Allard K. Lowenstein International Human Rights Law Clinic at Yale Law School said in a statement.

According to the right groups, military documents, including regular emails between military officers that have been obtained under the Freedom of Information Act detail interrogation techniques at naval prisons in Virginia and South Carolina.

They focus on three "enemy combatants:" two US citizens, Jose Padilla and Yaser Hamdi, and a legal resident, Ali al-Marri.

"Guantanamo was designed as a law-free zone, a place where the government could do whatever it wanted without having to worry about whether it was legal," said Jonathan Freiman, an attorney with the Lowenstein Clinic.

"It didn't take long for that sort of lawlessness to be brought home to our own country.

"Who knows how much further America would have gone if the Supreme Court hadn't stepped in to stop incommunicado detentions in 2004," added Freiman.

"The application of Guantanamo protocols on US soil is incredibly significant and indicates how far the administration has gone in terms of suspending the law," said Jonathan Hafetz, an attorney with the ACLU's National Security Project.

"The Bush administration has long argued that detainees held in Guantanamo are not entitled to any constitutional protections ... an argument the Supreme Court has recently rejected," he added.
