After seeing the first episode, here's my predictions for the finale...i bet i get at least a couple of these right.

Acaveda: rises to lofty heights of power, but has a relapse and starts being super mean to prostitutes again. Kills one or two people.

Claudette: retires, lupus-lamed and slandered, with crap pension. Telling the truth gets her fired and shunned.

Julian: Shoots Vic. Not sure why. Killed by Shane in revenge.

Shane: Gets shot by his wife. Not sure why.

Shane's wife: Murder/ suicide.

Vic's family: deeply traumatized forever.

Danny: loses out in a pissing contest with the cute young thing, even though obviously Danny is the better cop by far. Fired or quits, bitter and poor.

Dutch: strangles another cat and gets promoted to head of the Barn.

The Barn: closes shortly after Dutch takes it over.

Vic: dies in such a way that his family is taken care of financially, but is deeply traumatized forever.

The Armenians: win.

The Mexicans: win.

The One-niners: win.

Ronnie: He'll be ok, with a lot of blood on his hands by the end.

Anyone else keeping up with this final season. This weeks episode was one of the best.

Spoiler:

I think Vic is going to die or go to prison (then die), though he may pull something when we all think that and save his ass during the final episode.

I like The Shield but Vic's exploits and his last-minute escapes have become too numerous to be even slightly believable. To me, any comparison to The Wire is unfair. The latter is totally superior in every department. I like the fact that The Wire shows the 'criminals' as real people just trying to get by - whereas The Shield they merely serve as fodder for the cops.
The Shield has too many cop-show cliches and the plot is fairly predictable.
It's about time Vic caught some flack for his deeds. I'm starting to root for it now.

Yes, Vic does has a lot of last minute escapes. But is it so unbelievable. People who know the system and the law get away with a lot. Look at the Bush administration. And what about The Wire's string of murders just to get more money for the dept? Also believable. But it's all fiction.

I'd say the Shield gives fodder to civil liberty groups more than police, though it's once again fiction.

I know the Wire is fiction, but it's very well made fiction. Some people say it's too slow but I liked that. It took it's time developing the characters who seemed much more 'real'.
I think that Vic overshadows the show too much and it doesn't really allow for us to get to know the other characters enough. I like Dutch and his darker side could have been developed a lot more than it has. After almost 7 seasons, some of the other characters are still nothing much more than minor players.

Dutch and Claudette deserve their own show. I'm tired of Vic and his glaring.

Seconded. Also, some of the one-liners are veering into Arnie territory.

I'm pretty stoked with season seven. Sure, it ain't the Wire, but the Shield is what it is...not totally believable (I mean, come on, seven seasons and they never once said 'f**k?' Of course it takes a suspension of disbelief for that alone) but a lot better than most, and well worth a watch.
I'm glad it's over soon, too...best to not drag it on too long.
I like the evolution of Ronnie's character in these last few episodes. He's becoming more like the other guys, I guess.

I am a huge Shield fan, have been since I bought the DVD of the original season after hearing some tv critic talk about it. The writing and acting in the show is very well done, Shawn Ryan is a genius. There's never been a disappointing episode let alone season. I am sad that it will be done after this season. Just watched the latest episode and can't believe what Shane is planning.
I really hope Vic doesn't die at the end of the series, just like I was hoping Tony Soprano wouldn't die either. Oh well only 5 episodes left.

I feel the same. All those gangstas and not one single "motherf**er?". I don't remember NWA being so eloquent.

The Shield is the one show i d/l and watch the same day it airs in the us. the top of my must see list

ending of this weeks ep was something, danny taking off with vics kid, shane putting out a hit on vic.,

vics world is slowly coming apart with this and him losing his badge, i cant see how he survives in the end.

you can see how this is going to end with vic and shane having one last confrontation.

how many eps left 4 or 5?

I am a huge fan of The Wire. I enjoy the Shield, but....... Vic Mackey is a joke. He sums up all that is wrong with the way we, as Americans, think. I think it was Nilesq who compared Mackey to USA. All that Bush Docterine and premptive strike stuff could aptly be named the Vic Mackey Docterine. The Wire requires you to pay attention and challenges you to think about what is going on.

For all of you Wire/Shield fans out there, check out Brotherhood. It is by the Showtime Network. A realistic look at organized crime and politics in Rhode Island. Awesome show. If you like the Shield and the Wire, you will probably like Brotherhood.
