This was supposed to be the issue that sinks Obama once and for all. (There's a thread around here about it from a while back.)

McCain's Latest Robocall |
There is a good chance Karl Rove is involved, and the Republican party desperate, so they are willing to do pretty much anything to stop Obama from winning. I don't think anyone is really surprised by this gracious behavior. I guess it's too much to ask for more respectable behavior.
You know people are making a big deal about Ayers knowing Obama when Obama wasn't even born, but is anyone making a big deal about the connections anyone has to those bankrupting America. I am sure some guys on Wall Street (not everyone) have done far more damage to America than Ayers allegedly did. Yet, it seems all okay, because it was all done in the name of making a buck.
How many trips did McCain get with his old buddy Keating? And guess who paid for those excesses? The American people, of course. All this mud slinging is really pathetic. |

Seriously? What's with the republican party? Why don't they just put some dude in a three corner hat, give him a bell and punt him in the middle of a city?
Why aren't they utilizing the internet any better? It's post cold war already...enough with the phone calls from solicitors during dinner. |

I'd say they're utilizing the internet pretty well. Hasn't the phrase "fear-mongering Republican spam mail" kind of entered into the vernacular?
The Republicans MIGHT be using the phone system a bit more than the Democrats, but that's likely because a good chunk of the people they're trying to reach with this "babykiller" line are older voters who don't use the internet as much. |

Using the internet means getting Joe Sixpack off the couch and away from the tube. And (the unlicensed) Joe the Plumber away from his $150/hr overtime calls--tell that one to his employer who probably makes $120/hr for his labor.
Yes, they're desperate to save their butts from A Liberal Supermajority "we haven't seen since 1965, or 1933". |

Stuff like this is pretty common unfortunately. When talking about the issues doesn't work, then what else do you have? |

It's the epitomy of hypocrisy is what it is...
Flashback: McCain Condemned Robo-Slime In 2000 As "Hate Calls"
OTOH: Here's an example of the "fear-mongering Republican spam mail" I received last month from a Cuban-American 'friend in Miami.

Subject: Ray Castellanos Says that Obama is a comunist and a terrorist dressed as a sheep.
Hello guys,
I have been saying for a while that Obama is not a liberal, his ideology is communism.
I encourage all of you who are in doubt to read several books written during the cold war and after the Russian revolution, you will see the that Obama is using the same pattern, lie, brain wash, do not show the wolfs teeth until you are entrenched and have the power. I have seen this happen in Cuba , Lebanon , Russia , and Nicaragua to name a few. Do not be fooled by thinking he is a liberal and that our form of government and constitution protect us. Our country, our constitution are meaningless to him and his friends all they want is to take over no matter how long it takes.
Here are the titles of the books:
Masters of deceit
The fourth floor (written by US ambassador to Cuba shortly after Castro took power)
The life and death of Lenin by Robert Pain
I also encourage you to read about the history of the different countries that have experienced communism and take note of how it was achieved, the type of government it had before, the standard of living and what happened afterwards.
We have the breeding grounds for a communist take over, if we do not take action, which is our welfare system. A welfare system that instead of helping the needy is creating and breeding human parasites leaches (in and out of the government). Notice how taxes and crime have increased, since we started our welfare system and entitlements; they are directly related and Obama wants to increase the welfare and entitlement programs!
My friends I am expressing these opinions because I have lived through these experiences, not just read about them; first in my native country Cuba, and second when I fought in Vietnam.
Our best hope to create change in Washington is through a man and a woman that have proven their courage, leadership, and service by working hard, fighting the battles and not just talking about it. Come November vote for McCain/Palin.
Ray Castellanos
Have a blessed day!

I don't know who Ray is, but wouldn't the current Wall St. buyouts, bailouts, and buying bank stock be something Floridians should consider too? Nah, that's Fascism at it's finest. |

I don't see how Lebanon connects to Cuba and Russia? Lebanon has never been a communist country. What is he talking about? How did he exactly see whatever he saw happening in those countries? He doesn't make sense.
The US Government is involve in financial dealings that are undemocratic in nature as they harm the majority of Americans, it and has been doing so for a while. We have to pay for their mess, and Ray wants us to worry about Obama going slightly to the left. Who knows, Ray might label George Soros, the billionaire, as a communist?
These are old tactics used by the Right. There's nothing new in it.
They used it on FDR in the 1930s when he implemented the New Deal.
These are Red Scare type tactics. |

I think we have only seen the beginning of this. McCain has started pulling money out of states instead are using the RNC and 527 groups to attack Obama. The sad part is there are other races that are closer in those states. |

This stuff isn't effective. Its a sign of desperation. Kind of like how torturing enemy combatants is desperate and morally pathetic. |

Kuros,
I agree and I think it is going to hurt their down ticket candidates (House, Senate, Governor) more using this strategy. Then there is the whole thing with Bachmann calling members of Congress Anti-American and suddenly her opponent raises over $100,000 in one day. How many times can they kick themselves in the head in one week? |

Two GOP senators express displeasure in McCain/RNC robocalls
Two Republican senators facing re-election battles in states also seeing presdential campaign attention are speaking out against anti-Obama robocalls from McCain's campaign and the RNC.
Maine Sen. Susan Collins expressed her dispeasure first on Friday.
They dont serve John McCain well, Collins told PolitickerME. This kind of campaign call does not reflect the kind of leader that he is."
And today Coleman's campaign issued a blanket statement condemning negative ads and phone calls.
"I call on Al Franken, the DNC, the RNC, the DSCC, the NRSC and any other organization engaged in negative attacks on any candidate to bring them to an immediate end," Coleman said in the statement.
Asked if this included McCain's campaign, Coleman spokesman Luke Friedrich replied: "The senator is calling on everyone."
Coleman, who like nearly every other Republican running a competitve race has seen his poll standing slip in recent weeks, made a show of taking down his negative ads earlier this month.
Collins is thought to be in a stronger position, but she has gone to great lengths this year and in her political career to run "clean campaigns."

You wanna place a number on Senate pick-ups for the Dems? I say the Dems make up about 58 of the Senate. I think the race will tighten up for President, but the economy has burned the GOP badly. I think McConnell in KY and Cornyn in TX are still safe, but any GOP candidates lower on the probability scale are in trouble. |
