|

Okay, I really want to get this nailed down. It's a hassle getting transcripts from my university every year, and though at the moment I live in the same city as my university, I know I'm not going to forever. I went down to my university and picked up some transcripts today, and this is what they gave me: the official transcripts, in a plain envelope, sealed using a glue-stick, and then stamped along the seal with the university seal. There is no date of issue on the outside of the envelope, and I presume that there is no date of issue on the transcripts inside.
I've heard that some schools/recruiters/immigration want transcripts issued within the the last 6 months. Does it really matter? Is this an actual rule?
Since I'm still in Canada, and close to my uni, I'd love to go down and get like 6 copies of my transcripts, so I'm set for the next few years. |

It is an immigration rule that the transcripts need to be no more than 3 months old. That said, there are many immigration officers that will overlook this fact. It will vary from office to office, as well as officers. |

What is your link to your claim that this is an "immigration rule"? That is a new one on me. Who told you that it was a "rule"? |

I have hired many people during my stay here, and this is what immigration officers state. Sometimes, you will get officers that will overlook this, but if they want to be sticklers about the regulations, they can be. I have processed documents with transcripts older than 3 months, but then, I have also had documents refused because they were older than 3 months. |

Never herad of this. Is it one of the new rules alongside the Dec. 15th 07 changes? I applied to my current job with year old transcripts back in Nov 07. |

A couple of years back when I needed my last E-2, I had to get new transcripts because the only copy I had was a year old, and they said they had to be at most 90 days old to be accepted. That was Incheon Immigration office. |

Nothing new. Like I said before, some officers let it slide, others are retentive about it. The first time someone was denied for me was in 2003, and the last time was in 2007. But, I have submitted some older than 3 months, that have gone through. I have searched the immi website, and can't find info on it. All I can tell you is that my assistant had to go back to immigration numerous times because transcripts were overdate. |

Last time I went in to renew (same job) in August, I didn't even submit any transcripts. This was at Incheon Immigration. |

To renew or extend your current visa, you do not need transcripts. If you change jobs and go through the visa process again, then you need to submit transcripts. Except of course if you change jobs after 3/4 of a current contract and change your sponsor/school. |

I used sealed transcript 2007 for a camp..they were from 2005, but sealed...I never had a problem with that for either visa. |

I used transcripts issued approximately a year previously, and had no problems at Donghae Immigration. |

Thanks for all the replies, polonius in particular. I didn't know it was only 3 months.
Well, in my case, the new job I've got will hopefully be long-term, so it's looking like I'll be able to just renew every year.
Greatly appreciate the info. |

I honestly reckon the majority of immi officials wouldn't pick up on this. i think where they have done are isolated cases... |
