I have been in Seoul for about three weeks now and am not really sure how to go about meeting new people. I do hang out with the other teachers from my school but there are only a few of us.

I have tried searching around on both facebook and work n play but haven't had much luck in finding anything.

Any suggestions? Or is anyone interested in meeting for dinner or something? I am sure there are a few other people in the same boat!

First off, what kind of freinds do you want?

Do you want the type that are going to discourage you from wanting to stay here with thier constant negativity and bashing of the country? Or do you want people who can ignore that they are in a country who in THEIR opinion treats them like a second class citizen.

Its hard living here away from your family and friends as it is, but if you meet up with people who dont like being here, then you won't either.

I will extend this invitation to you, if you like to play poker, I play with a bunch of people in Haebongchon every other saturday ( give or take) we are a great bunch of guys ( and the odd girl) who love life here, and do not like to complain about the country (theres always shit to complain about sure, but we chose to come here for whatever reason)

My wife is Korean as well so its just simple tact to not slag off the country in front of her.

If youd like to play, let me know, I can network you to about 10 decent people right away.

BTW

We only play for 10 000 won for a 90 minute tournament, we play anywhere from 3 to 5 of them, but not everyone plays that late.

You could try learning basic Korean. There is a class that just started this week at a church called Onnuri English Ministry. They do a 9 week course for all levels, but the biggest group is beginners. It's church run, but it's not "churchy" if you're not into that, don't worry.

Anyway, it's $21 for the books and $15 for snacks and there are about 50 people there every saturday from 11-1pm. This saturday (the 25th) there is no class, but the following saturday it's on...

Take line 4 to Inchon Station, then transfer to Seobinggo. At Seobinggo exit toward the apartment buildings (away from the main road) and you will see a large church to the right. Cut through the apartment buildings, and from the main church courtyard go into the right hand building, 3rd floor. If you're lost just ask someone.

Anyway, it's a good way to meet lots of different people from all over the place.

Hey, I have been here for a bit over 3 weeks too. Yes, it is hard to meet people here but I guess it's to be expected given the circumstances. I work in a public school so no foreigners there and I've only met a couple of foreigners so far here and there. I'm not looking to party or get myself drunk silly...just talk and have dinner too. But no Korean food. I've had my fill. PM me if you want to meet up some time soon!

I definitely would like to hang out with some people who are enjoying their time here. I guess I should have mentioned that I am a 22 year old female who has only play texas holdem maybe one or twice haha...still extending the invite?
