I am pretty sure superdave shops at YesDica, and that's also where I have been shopping for the past 3.5 years. I have spent close to 3 million won there. The guy is a rude though. The only reason I keep on shopping there is because he always has the cheapest price, however, after my last experience with a friend, I am going to try to find another place that will come close to his price.

yeah, i do shop at yesdica. it's weird that a few people have said he's rude, but i've never had that experience.

however, although i usually recommend him, i do spend my money in other stores too. not just there.

namdaemun is the best place to buy gear ... and it pays to shop around. carry cash and be prepared to haggle.

when you guys mention namdaemun are you talking about the actual namdaemun market?

because i found this side street full of used camera shops between the euljiro3 station and changmuro station and am wondering if these two places are one and the same.

The last time I went I was with my buddy and his girlfriend, who is Korean. He was so rude to her she was upset with him and almost lost it.

He lied to me about something that made shopping there unpleasant, and I'm not plan on returning.

He did a bait and switch style tactic with the price of a camera. He said a fair price, so I decided not to bargain. I then proceeded to the ATM, and by the time I came back he jumped the price 50,000 won, and wanted to charge me 30,000 won for a 2gig flash card.

I should have walked out at that moment, but he was an experienced salesman, so I was lured to stay. But in retrospect I feel lied and cheated; I should have been a more wise customer. One of the reasons I probably stayed was that I would have felt weird walking around with that much cash on me as well. (DSLR's are not cheap) So I ended up buying the camera for more than what we agreed on.

So the moral of the story is not too ever let a sales man up the price on you. It was stupid of me. Of course I talked him down a couple tens, but I still feel like he lied to me, and I don't feel like I got a good deal at all.

It just makes me mad that he stooped to a low level salesman and that I was the stupid customer. He's more of a salesman than anything, so if you go there, treat him like a salesman and nothing else.

i'm sorry you've had a bad experience.

i only recommend yesdica because i've always got good deals there ... however i know he's not to everyone's taste.

there are a great many camera stores in namdaemun and it's definitely the best place to buy gear.

of course, beware of dodgy korean sales tactics ... they're very good at it here.

we have a photo club at flickr if you're interested: www.flickr.com/groups/seoulphotoclub

cheers

Thanks. You have a cool website, and your directions were very helpful.

I'll check out the photo club, I've never used flickr before. So I'll open an account; I'm eventually going to run out of free space with google I think.

Sorry to do this guys, but I need to hijack this thread for a bit, as it's the only one I can still post in.

If you read one of the other threads I created you know that new threads load as a page of .html code - nearly impossible to read. I tried clearing the cache and no luck. If anyone knows what's going on a little help would be appreciated.

never mind the cache... clear your cookies... you have a bad one in there.

and you may want to clear your "temp" files and "temporary internet files" as well.

Bullseye. Thanks.

For some reason cookies isn't selected when you go to "clear private data" in firefox, and I just did that and unchecked all the stuff that I knew couldn't affect the problem... SO, I figured it would have done that already. Nope. Went back to check just now and found some very stale dave's cookies. Got some fresh ones, problem solved.

i'm glad you like my site ...

flickr is very, very good to use ... if you pony up the $25 a year for pro membership then you get virtually unlimited space ... if you mark photos as 'private' then you can use flickr as an online storage account.

it's one of the most useful sites online ...

Back on topic it is.

I might use flickr myself if I was doing what Dave is. Definitely a lot of pros. Unfortunately, I absolutely hate the feel of it. The interface is kind of inconvenient and picture pages have tons of crap and user comments with gaudy flashing icons and such. (If I wanted that much clutter on my website I'd just use a korean one. Razz)

So even though you can't do as much with it I find myself sticking with picasa for my simple, streamlined photo needs.
