Hi to those of you who are webpage savvy,

I have to do a webpage, as part of an assignment. I need to be able to embed some multimedia, to give it some audio or visual aspect. This is part of an assignment, and I am late starting and don't have much time to decide on the software.

I don't have the money or the time to learn to use something like dreamweaver.

Can anyone recommend a web editor tool that is free and easy to use?

Alternatively, something not free, but relatively easy to use. I know a little html, but that's all the skill I have and don't want to become bogged down in something too complex for a novice.

Someone recommended Publisher - but then backpeddled saying they weren't sure if it could be used. Publisher is available at the uni library, so if I am able to use it, and can embed multimedia, then that will probably suffice.

Desperate for advice!

Publisher is the easiest webpage maker to use (not too powerful, but easy). To insert media you need to put a hyperlink into publisher directed to the media file (can't drop and drag it).

Dreamweaver is a bitch to use, but you could probably run through one of the lynda.com or total training tutorials in 10 hours of so.

Do you have access to MS-Frontpage (part of the MS-office package)? Drag and drop, WYSIWYG.

Alternatively you CAN do it in MS-WORD or MS-Powerpoint in a pinch. Just "save as" as an html file / webpage instead of .doc or .ppt when you save it.

Powerpoint will allow you to embed multi-media files (AVI, ASF, WMA, WMV, MPG, etc)

Frontpage would be easiest and fastest, hardly any learning curve.

Dreamweaver is ace....but you dont have time to learn.

Depending on what you need to do, you could also try Wordpress.

It's setup like a blog, but you can also create pages, embed images and videos with few problems. It's very easy to use, and keeps things simple to learn.

You can also download a more flexible version at http://wordpress.org/ but I haven't had any experience with that.

personally I prefer notepad++ but then that's all hand coding and is probably not what you want.

Can you not embed just by using the html code provided from youtube or other multimedia posting sights?

Seems that the end result would be the same if your webpage had youtube videos on it... Especially if your in a time crunch.

OK, I'm at the computer labs at the uni. I have about 4 days to do this thing. From a quick exploration in the start up menu, it looks like I have the choice between Frontpage, and SeaMonkey (though I suppose I could use Powerpoint - I've discounted publisher because someone said I can only link mulitmedia).

Given time, I would prefer to learn SeaMonkey. But is Frontpage going to be a lot faster? More intuitive because of years of using microsoft word? Or is SeaMonkey not so difficult.

I am armed with 2 books (that I have only had time to glance through).

An important element of the assignment is that I incorporate multimedia.

Anyone got any advice?
