I have downloaded some new movies. What program can I use to convert DivX to something that is readable on either my old ass DVD player (I don't know what kinds of files that it accepts or plays, obviously it doesn't read the DivX file after attemptimg to play a burned copy in that format) or on my XBOX (original) that has capabilities of playing code free?

Although it is quite cool to sit here and watch the movies on the new 24" HP monitor and browse Dave's on my old 22" HP monitor at the same time, that isn't the optimal thing to do when my girl comes over for movie time. I want to be able to watch the movies on my TV at that time Laughing . Thanks for any assistance.

I used to use Nero Vision (a module included in the full versions of Nero) for DVD authoring. Really slick interface, simple, and never made a coaster. Now, I just connect my laptop to my hdtv Wink

almost any DVD burning software should enable you to use the divx input file and burn as a video DVD rather than a data DVD.

Depending on your rig it may take an hour or so for the encoding and burning process.

I often use cyberlink's "power producer". It was a free bundle with my DVD burner but you can also download it as a torrent from most places.

Alternatively, if you just want a video converter, I like this one for ease of use as well. http://www.koyotesoft.com/indexEn.html .

Choose the video converter from the list on the left.

It can handle almost any/everything and is freeware.

Aha..I totally forgot about burning in DVD Video format with Nero. Thanks guys! My new rig (that I sold my laptop to finance) is pretty stout so I hope it doesn't take forever (it looks like between 30-60 mins based on current progress). Thanks again!

Go back to your bit torrent site and search for convertxtodvd This program takes your files and coverts them to DVD. Once the conversion is finished, it'll ask you to put in a blank dvd and Robert's your father's brother. Easy enough for me to figure out. Although, combining 2 files into one did take some time to figure out. Super easy now, just ask if you have any questions.

Cangel, thanks for the info on convertxtodvd. I downloaded it and successfully burned Dark Night just now (quickly for a 152min file). It plays fine on the XBOX. Very Happy

Yeah, no worries. The program is brilliant. Easy to use and does just what it's supposed to do. Enjoy.

Yeah, it is quite easy to use and is very quick.

I think that I just figured out the culprit to my problems however. I attempted to burn another movie just now onto a DVD-RW with no playback success. This happened when I tried with Nero as well. I burned Dark Night onto a DVDR.

I had heard that some players can't read DVD-RWs. Has anyone else had this problem?

Mate get a divx player. It's pretty much an external hardrive that can out put to your tv. I use a mvix 780 hd.

http://www.mvix.net/780_OverView.html also has wireless and ndas costs about 210 via danawa or 230 in yongsan with a 500gig hard drive.

never need to burn a dvd again
