| Imagine you lived in some imaginary bordertown between Syria and Alabama. You only two options for news: Al-Jazeera and FOX News. Which one would you choose? |

You should only vote if you have watched both channels and not go on hearsay about what they are like. For arguments sake, I should also say that your cable package only allows for one news channel.
BTW, I'm not expecting FOX to lose this poll, but I am curious how many people think Al Jazeera is actually relatively more 'fair and balanced'.

I read Al Jazeera regularly when I lived in Europe. On reporting on non-Arab matters, the articles that I read were very similar to what was on the BBC or CNN. On Arab matters, it was like night and day. For example, the reports about the Bulgarian nurses imprisoned in Libya was 180 degrees out from the rest of the world's media.
Considering that Al Jazeera was founded by a huge grant from the government of Qatar which although moderate by Arab standards is far from democratic and open. Lets see Al Jazeera call for democracy in Qatar.
Al Jazeera is only as fair as their masters in Qatar allow. |

I read both sources. As a matter of fact I get my nes from many sources.
I like Reuters, BBC, CNN, FOX, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, NY times, USA Today, Washington Post, Drudge, Al Jazeera, and Haaretz in no particular order.
I find the varied views stimulating and I determine the level of credibility. |

No offense; but couldn't the same be said for almost all news channels? Could you imagine somebody on Fox news doing a negative story on Rupert Murdock? Or perhaps CNN on Time warner? Or how about Arthur Ochs Sulzberger who owns the Newyork times? You should remember that corporations aren't democracies either and while their owners may not tell their subordinates what to think you can be sure that people are generally promoted for thinking a particular way. This happens in all organizations and the newspaper business is certainly no different. |

Corporations can't silence a news organization as efficiently as the government of their host country, especially when it isn't a democrazy. |

You don't see ColorOfChange.org dropping off 600,000 petitions protesting racism on the doorstep of Al Jazeera in English, do ya?

Obama says he will give a tax cut to 95% of Americans.
95% is a greater than the number of Americans who pay income taxes.
So for those who don't pay income taxes they will just get money from the government for nothing.
Al Jazera has parties for people who bash the skulls of babies.
