You should only vote if you have watched both channels and not go on hearsay about what they are like. For arguments sake, I should also say that your cable package only allows for one news channel.
BTW, I'm not expecting FOX to lose this poll, but I am curious how many people think Al Jazeera is actually relatively more 'fair and balanced'.

I read Al Jazeera regularly when I lived in Europe. On reporting on non-Arab matters, the articles that I read were very similar to what was on the BBC or CNN. On Arab matters, it was like night and day. For example, the reports about the Bulgarian nurses imprisoned in Libya was 180 degrees out from the rest of the world's media.
Considering that Al Jazeera was founded by a huge grant from the government of Qatar which although moderate by Arab standards is far from democratic and open. Lets see Al Jazeera call for democracy in Qatar.
Al Jazeera is only as fair as their masters in Qatar allow. |

I read both sources. As a matter of fact I get my nes from many sources.
I like Reuters, BBC, CNN, FOX, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, NY times, USA Today, Washington Post, Drudge, Al Jazeera, and Haaretz in no particular order.
I find the varied views stimulating and I determine the level of credibility. |

No offense; but couldn't the same be said for almost all news channels? Could you imagine somebody on Fox news doing a negative story on Rupert Murdock? Or perhaps CNN on Time warner? Or how about Arthur Ochs Sulzberger who owns the Newyork times? You should remember that corporations aren't democracies either and while their owners may not tell their subordinates what to think you can be sure that people are generally promoted for thinking a particular way. This happens in all organizations and the newspaper business is certainly no different. |

Are you kidding? I imagine most who post here would prefer Al Presidente, backissues from the Vlkischer Beobachter, or simple gossip over the telephone over FoxNews. |

I prefer intelligence.
I think most here, don't suffer fools gladly so I know the prognosis.

Me too! I'd like the CIA to leave situation reports on my desk every morning. |

Al Jazeera has pretty extensive worldwide coverage, you can't say the same for FOX. |

How about an actual choice and not the foolish false dilemma this poll offers? |

Corporations can't silence a news organization as efficiently as the government of their host country, especially when it isn't a democrazy. |

FOX shouldn't even be considered a news network. They're just the propaganda arm of the GOP. They're like The Onion, minus the humor.
You don't see ColorOfChange.org dropping off 600,000 petitions protesting racism on the doorstep of Al Jazeera in English, do ya?
And this is a typical FOX Noise quote
"(Barack Obama) will put a tax plan in place that would give money away to people that haven't earned it. [snip] They get a check for having a pulse. Mike Huckabee, Hannity and Colmes, 10/16/08" |

Obama says he will give a tax cut to 95% of Americans.
95% is a greater than the number of Americans who pay income taxes.
So for those who don't pay income taxes they will just get money from the government for nothing.
Al Jazera has parties for people who bash the skulls of babies.

Kuntar was convicted when he was 17 years old (albeit in an enemy court in 1980), of murdering, among others, Einat, an innocent four-year-old Israeli girl he dragged from bed at night to the seashore and whose fragile head, the court was told, he had smashed with the butt of his rifle. True to its spirit of courting controversy, Al-Jazeera celebrated Kuntar's release like no other television channel.
"The station not only repeatedly interviewed 'the hero' but brazenly threw Kuntar, live on international television, a surprise birthday party to celebrate the occasion. The party, organized by Al-Jazeera came complete with fireworks, a full band, and a giant birthday cake along with the picture of the Hizbullah leader Hassan Nassrallah. [2]
"The channel's Beirut bureau chief, Ghassan Bin Jiddou, sporting a pink tie for the occasion, repeatedly addressed the terrorist as 'my brother' saying: 'You deserve even more than this.'
"Number three on Al-Jazeera's Code of Ethics list: Give full consideration to the feelings of the victims of crime.
"Is Qatar, the channel's backer, fully aware of the danger it creates by associating itself with this sort of programming: a birthday party for a convicted child murderer? In fact, all Arabs should re-examine their understanding of what characterizes a hero; take a look at your own child and imagine just how frightened the four-year-old Einat must have been.
"The unrepentant Kuntar later told Al-Jazeera how 'wonderful' he thought the assassination of the former Egyptian leader Anwar Sadat had been, and how he looked forward to 'similar assassinations |
