I'm traveling to Southeast Asia (Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand) for 2 months and 10 days in Januray. I'm a Canadian. Can anyone recommend a good travel insurance. I'm not sure if I want medical only or something with all the options (baggage theft, passport replacement, evacuation..)? |

No one here purchases travel insurance?
Having a hard time finding a policy that will cover me, cause I've been out of Canada for more than a year, and am no longer eligible for provincial health insurance. |

Google Multi National Underwriters...they have a bunch of short and long term options for living and traveling abroad. I have used them for three years but have never had to make a claim so can't comment on the service. |

World Nomads requires that you are still covered by your provincial health insurance. You have to be in Canada for something like 150 days out of the year to covered.
I emailed Multi national underwriters and waiting for a response.
But this company says you don't need any other coverage to be eligible.

You can buy great travel insurance at Incheon Airport before you go through the screening process. Price is decent and the details are in English. |

I bought travel insurance at the airport on my last trip to Canada. It was very simple and took about 5 minutes. The ladies are very helpful and speak English well. I learned about this insurance from this board too. Have fun on your trip!
OP stands for "original post" |

Unless this rule applies only to Canadians or it has been implemented in the last month or so, I believe that this information is completely false.
I have no health insurance in my homeland and have not been in my home country for 150 days in one year since 2005 yet they covered me for one month in August.
One thing that may be worth considering is which country you select as your country of residence. From what I remember from my communications with them, this is where you will be flown in the case of an evacuation. I originally selected Korea but changed this to my home country after finding that fact out. I figured I would be better off at home than in Korea in the case of a serious medical emergency.
I never had to make a claim, which is obviously the real test of an insurance company, so don't take this post as a recommendation. |

Must be new, cause I know someone who used them earlier this year and had been away from Canada for a couple of years and made quite a big claim. |
