Yep it is their fault for putting up articles . It is not the fault of those who made the reports. |

interesting you bash Fox news but you have no problem using left wing media like the Guardian.

Al-Jazeera did apologize for this incident. That's an action that Fox is incapable of.

| On July 19, 2008, Al Jazeera TV broadcast a program from Lebanon that covered the "welcome-home" festivities for Samir Kuntar. In the program, the head of Al Jazeera's Beirut office, Ghassan bin Jiddo, praised on Kuntar by calling him a "pan-Arab hero" and organized a birthday party for him. In response, Israel's Government Press Office (GPO) threatened to boycott the satellite channel unless it apologized. A few days later an official letter was issued by Al Jazeera's director general, Khanfar Wadah, in which he admitted that the program violated the station's Code of Ethics and that he had ordered the channel's programming director to take steps to ensure that such an incident does not recur. |

The Guardian kicks butt over Fox. Don't even try to compare the two, unless you want to "out" on this thread too. |

| The Guardian, the left-leaning British newspaper, published an editorial criticizing Israel for what the paper called ''random, vengeful acts of terror'' against Palestinian civilians during its reoccupation of the West Bank town of Jenin last spring. This after a United Nations report dismissed Palestinian claims that Israel had massacred civilians there |

I prefer intelligence.

Seriously, Fox is horrible. I mean they lie in such a horrible way.
I remember hearing Fox claim they have so many liberal guests when 83% of their guests are conservative, and they get these weak liberal guests. There is no balance there as they claim. They are way too partisan. I have watched both Al Jazeera and Fox, and I can say I think Fox is worse. O'Reilly seems to heckle his guests, and I don't feel Al Jazeera shows that much disrespect to its guests, and, for me, that's important. Fox needs to treat its guests with civility. This doesn't mean I agree with Al Jazeera's nationalist agenda which comes out at times. |

Fox is not partisan but is really the media mouthpiece of the Republican party. This is a not so minor difference. Fox is the capitalist propaganda arm of a fascist political party. And it is the highest rated/most viewed in America.
We know that the Bush admin will feed talking points to Fox, and Fox alone, to spit at the public on those days where Bush or one of his thugs is going to say something stupid.

Yes, behind all that sanctimonious talk of patriotism and flag-waving there is a lot of fascism as Benito Mussolini would define it. Fox relies way too much on propaganda. It seems to much like a propaganda news channel then just a regular news channel. Anyway, polls have shown many people are increasingly seeking their news from foreign sources as well, because they don't feel relying on American news is enough anymore. Tom Fenton probably would agree with that notion. I don't think Fox is the only channel that is sub-par when it comes to reporting the news. I don't think CNN is that great with its reporting of Britney Spears type stories for hours and hours as if nothing is happening in the world besides that. |

I think the proof is not just in the pudding but also in the eating.
If a sane and fairly average person were to watch both -- there would be no comparison in terms of quality, in terms of balanced viewpoints (I"m talking about the English Al Jazeera, I'm not familiar with the Arabic), in terms of "breadth" of storylines/coverage. No contest.
Fox is very insular, lots of babble and bravado, hiss and huzza.
What I think is the downfall or where stems my own disappointment with Al Jazeera, is in the fact they've gone CNN upscale. So much more is now about companies/finance, so much more is now about celebrities and "lifestyle". They've gone away from substance. I guess that is the way the biz works - as they age, they tend to go away from their idealistic roots and cater to their direct clientele with whom they have relationships (advertisers).
But for programming, variety of programming - Al Jazeera even beats BBC. Witness is beyond excellent, necessary nutrition for whatever your politics / persuasion. Same with People and Power.
I'll also ask -- how many Fox reporters have died reporting "hard" stories or been sent away to prison for years, merely for reporting the news? Part of a network is "being there" where it happens. Fox is just a blow horn and isn't on the ground at all.
I highly recommend the new series - "Islam in America".

If you want to stream great "current events" - get the Livestation player. The best thing Microsoft ever did! www.livestation.com Sorry, no Fox

PLUS...when they do put 'liberals' on, well, anyone who doesn't believe in the Bush Administration, they just belittle them and make fun of them.
I'll never forget SCOTT RITTER, weapons inspector to Iraq, and prior to the War in Iraq, he was saying there wasn't any WMD and he knew it as an active weapons inspector for YEARS in Iraq...and FOX just belittled him and called him un-American to his face on FOX. It was real ugly, and that was the tone of the news for years after Iraq began as well. Just plain ugly. |

I personally believe that many of the fans of Fox News see all other news sources as "ultra left-wing." Therefore, they consider Fox news to be the only news source that isn't, and in their eyes, the only one that is fair to them.
That being said, Fox News is ridiculous. |
