I love these threads with Americans basking in a fog of delusions.
Good luck choosing a president. Third time's a charm.

I'll bet Estonia and Mali are on that same list of countries that some can't pick out on a map. Now you know why.

Well as much as hate to admit it... you're right. We are kinda cocky. But we are picked on a lot and it seems that our neighbors to the south have a complete hate on for us. We may not have the population of the US but that doesn't make us inferior. Americans are pretty cocky too. Well for the most part anyway.

I agree. Some peoples first amendment rights should be revoked. Just because you CAN say something doesn't mean you should. It was written when people could censor themselves.

Who picks on Canadians? First you say Canadians are loved by everyone and that Americans are ignorant of Canada. Then who does the picking on?
You dont get to comment on the First Amendment. You dont have one.
Canada was not a country in 1812, so you didnt have a war with anyone. The US was fighting your colonial overlords in 1812.
When did Canada become a full fledged nation anyway. Around 1980? Why is there a picture of a soveriegn from another nation on your money?

Because we are part of the commonwealth, teacher (along with 51 other countries ~ all of which are independent and are able to maintain good relations with one another [I know that idea must be very foreign to you]). Anyway, I'd rather be associated with the queen rather than some twit like Sarah Palin.

It was 1867 for your information. Canada became a SOVEREIGN nation with its own governing body in 1867. We have the queen on our 20$ bills and our coins because we are part of the monarchy but it's in title only. The last province to join confederation was Newfoundland in 1949... which is still before 1980.
The remark about the first amendment was made because we have free speech laws in Canada too. Just because you CAN say a thing doesn't mean you should. The fact that you don't know that only speaks of your own ignorance. Americans pick on Canadians and vice versa. It seems that a lot of the time it's started by the expats from south of the border, especially here on Dave's where a good 'ole Canadian bash is a tangent on many a thread.
I don't think I ever said that Canadians are beloved by everyone. It's possible I did... but I still doubt it. I know that we aren't everyone's favorite all the time.
And I didn't say that reesedog was loosing his bashing privileges I simply agreed with the comment. If you're going to make comments against another nation then you should at least make intelligent ones that don't make you look like some kind of inbred moron who got their education out of a cracker-jack box, or from the University of Phoenix.

It is currently unknown what benefits the mullet brings to those North Americans living beneath the 49th parallel as it appears to have neither resulted in improved on ice performance or increased ability to attract a mate. In fact, North Americans living below the 49th parallel who wear mullets have been statistically shown to attract fewer mates and reside, on average, in far less comfortable dwellings than their average northern bretheren. Inexplicably, members of the male species sporting mullets south of the 49th parallel often encounter derision and hostility from non-mullet wearing tribesmen. This bizarre anomoly has lead many scholars to come to the conclusion that the wearing of mullets should only be attempted north of the 49th parallel.

Okay Beej first off you need to get at least some facts straight.

First off Canada was officially a nation with the passing of the constitution Act of 1867, which by the way was done without a shot being fired (although yes there were minor conflicts in upper and lower canada before then)

What you are referencing was the Canadian charter of Rights and Freedoms which was passed in 1982 which further entrenched equality rights and minority rights, and also the freedom of speech in the Constitution.

Secondly there is no picture of any foreign Sovereign on our money. Queen Elizabeth II is the queen of Canada only when she is in Canada. And while she is not in Canada she is technically (by her authority to issue laws and tradition) not the Queen of Canada. Hence why we have a governor general who is the Queens representative in Canada and acts with the full authority of the crown in Canada whilest the Queen is absent and without interference from the British monarchy.

Thirdly I believe I made sure to mention the fact that the British were fighting the war of 1812, alongside colonial Canadian troops and our natives. Maybe it would have been more accurate if I instead put colonial canada and the British burned down Washington DC and the white house. And as per our colonial overlords, well we definately seemed to prefer them to the American invaders, otherwise it would have been a much shorter war.

You are wrong. You need to learn your own Canadian history. Canada was not a self determining national entity until the passing of the Canada Act in 1982.
"Canada, as a British Dominion, was until 1982 governed by a constitution that was a British law and could be changed only by an Act of the British Parliament. Patriation thus specifically refers to making the constitution amendable by Canada only, with no role for the Parliament of the United Kingdom to play in the amending process. Hence, patriation is associated with the adoption of the Canadian amending formula, and the corresponding acquisition of sovereignty."
