| FYI: Egypt is AMAZING! More than a little overwhelming at times, but definately worth the hassels. |

I must visit the Great Wall in China. I explained to my husband I MUST be he didn't get it. Anyway I MUST and considering my location now it seems very plausible that it'll happen soon. |

| I'd like to see Antarctica. There are charter tours and they look amazing (despite the cold)! |

My top 5 would be:
ABC - Advanced Base Camp, Everest.
Petra - the hidden city and 'Treasury'.
The Great Pyramid of Giza - the chambers inside.
Antartica - and not from the air or a boat.
Venice - with my with SO. |

I second that - it's much much poorer than I expected - I wasn't quite prepared for it - the political repression is huge, also something I wasn't expecting. Cairo was incredibly dirty but also incredibly fascinating - I managed one day trip out of the city and while there heard all kinds of tales about other places/cities in Egypt - it's definitely a country I want to go back to.
In fact, northern Africa in general is a place I'd like to spend a couple of months, at least.
fyi, in Capetown I stayed at a lodge where these two chaps from Finland had arrived the week before and were resting up from their DRIVE FROM HOLLAND ACROSS AFRICA.
No kidding - 10 months - thousands of pictures - their blog was all over the internet apparently - they had driven down - finally sold their car and was flying back to Finland -
now THAT is an adventure -
btw, they were middle aged - so to the chap (and anyone else) who worries about hitting 30 and not seeing much - altho I'd traveled all over the U.S., into Canada and Mexico, I never had a passport until I came over here to Korea, in my upper 40's - and now have circumnavigated the globe once and am on my second time around.
slow down, you'll live much longer and enjoy it more as well. |
