I'm planning a trip to Vietnam in January with detours to Cambodia and Laos. Because of this, I need a multiple entry visa. The travel agent quoted me a price of ~$190. I checked Vietnam's embassy page and they say a multiple entry for under 30 days in just $40:

Does anyone have any experience with this? A web search says that a multiple entry visa for Vietnam is closer to the price my travel agent quoted. |

Thanks for the link. The price seems to be just 35USD for a 1-month multiple-entry visa. However, when I searched Thorntree (Lonley Planet's travel forum), people are all paying over 100USD (going through travel agencies, though). Seems like a very nice commission. I wonder if I just stroll into the Viet Nam embassy in Seoul with the necessary documents, I could get it done cheaply. Thanks again.
Edit The link you posted states that each embassy has a Stamping Fee which ranges from 25-65USD per person... Ugh! So, 35 for the visa, 65 for the stamp and then commission... That could very well add up to more than 100USD, much more... |

Just got off the phone with the consular section of the Vietnamese embassy in Seoul.
The multiple entry visa for under 30 days is W87,000 (total, including stamping fee). You can apply at the embassy: Line #3, Anguk Station. It takes 3-4 business days. You'll need 3 passport photos. He said not to worry about the "sponsor" as often cited in Vietnam visa threads/bulletins. They can mail your passport back to you if your provide a pre-paid, addressed, insured (like EMS) envelope.
Their number is: 02-725-2487 |

Well my experience is from a couple of years ago but it still seems a lot. Back then a multiple entry business visa for 6months was around 150 bucks. My 3 month work visa multiple was about 90. A tourist visa was about 35 if I remember correctly and valid 1 month. You used to have to get an exit stamp thing for re-entry but this may have changed.
Go to the embassy in Seoul, or if you hav time and will be in Thailand get it on Khao San. |
