Our Korean teacher is looking for songs to translate for us to learn in our Korean language study group.

After having barely survived through an obscure and noxious pop hit from the 70s, an intensely inane 'current' pop song (Wondergirls or something...) and then the national anthem, I was a bit surprised she actually seemed happy to listen to and translate for us Crying Nut's version of 밤이 깊었네. (She didn't like the rest of the album though.)

The only other suggestion I know of next is either 'Mal Dali Jah' (sp?!) by Crying Nut, or 'Ilonah' by that Kim Kwang Suk guy, although I think they are both possibly just half a step beyond we're we're at right now, due to the speed or the length of the lyrics... but what do I know?! If it's good, I'll learn it.

So, I'm guessing there must be some other great songs out there, with well written and interesting lyrics and at least fair tunes. I have expectations from bands like Yoon Do Hyun, Jau Rim, No Brain, the Dynamic Duo, or anything else that's not pure bubble-gum pop nonsense. So from you all who both speak the language well enough, and listen to good sounds:

"Mal Dali Jah" by Crying Nut is an interesting song because it's a homonym. It can mean both "Ride a horse" or "speak differently."

Two bands that I find helpful for studying Korean lyrics that aren't too too hard to find are Rux and Suck Stuff.

I've heard the names of those bands,

but not got around to listening to any of their tunes.

Can you recommend a title or two by Rux or Suck Stuff?

Which of their songs available online have the most interesting lyrics,

and also are maybe a bit slower and easier to follow?
