Obama will win. What is your reaction? |
Obama will bring America, kicking and screaming, into the 21st century. Economically, globally and socially. |

Obama will bring about a lot of positive changes in America and the world, but he will not be able to accomplish his dream. |

Obama is a lofty headed-idealist who wants to do a lot, but doesn't have the resources, support or the know-how. |

I'm indifferent. Politics is rigged and nothing changes. |

McCain would have been a better choice than Obama because of his experience. He's pretty liberal for a conservative anyway. |

McCain is a leader, Obama is not. McCain has realistic ideas about how to improve the economy and the world. |

McCain would have done a hell of a lot more in his presidency than Obama could ever have hoped to accomplished. It's a shame we lost a perfectly capable, experienced candidate to liberal hogwash. |

I've bookmarked the FiveThirtyEight and have been checking it ritually.
The last week has shown a slight decrease in Obama's support, yet today when a large amount of polling was dropped into their database that decrease was immediately turned around. Not that it mattered; Obama was already leading the polls during that drop by five points. Now, Obama is so far likely to win 354.4 electoral votes and has a 45% chance of winning even if he looses the popular vote.
Obama has a 96.3% chance of winning, period. McCain is completely fu.cked.
This is completely thrilling for anyone who came of age under Bush. I did, and it sucked. I'm a pessimistic *beep* after growing up during the Bush-era and regardless of what your political affiliation is, you'd be an idiot to think McCain and Palin (especially Palin) deserved this presidency. All the criticism towards Obama has been spun-baloney (he's a communist! etc) and a lot of the criticism towards McCain hasn't even needed to be spun. If this was 2000 I don't think Obama would stand a chance, but after eight years of Bush I honestly can't think of one legitimate reason to vote for another Republican making the exact same plans as the last one (more wars, "fewer taxes" and oil).
That being said, Obama has this in the bag. That is a very, very good thing, for America and the rest of the world.
What positive things do you think Obama will bring to the presidency? Negative? Do you think he can pull it off? Do you think his plans are possible?
Also, what will the consequences of this presidency be in the long term?
I really liked his speech about rebuilding the American economy around the idea of green energy. Not only is it just the intelligent thing to do, it's also a uniting factor between the right and the left. It's not a political issue, at all.
Yes, this is the praise Obama thread. Have fun.

Poll options too complex to read quickly. And I do not come here to study people's posts.
My reaction is this: B. Obama will probably win. And if/when he does, provided he does so constitutionally, we must back him as the President. He will almost certainly become a fine president after his first year, year-and-a-half or so. |

Yep second on the poll really is too complicated.
Should have stuck with simpler items. |

Yeah. Too late to edit it now though. Can't edit existing polls.
I tried to generalize the most common reactions... feel free to criticize. |

I haven't heard it in those terms before.
Still have just less than two weeks, and ANYTHING can still happen.
I would be quite happy if they had the election TODAY and get the thing over with! I'm quite interested to be talking about the post-election stuff. |

It's too close to call, if he does win, he won't live very long. In which case, we have a combo JFK/MLK in the making. |

This is painfully obvious from your replies to other people's posts.
It took me about a minute to read those poll options. About as long as it takes to write a snide reply about the poll options I'd say. |

Erm, given the context, that is hardly the most offensive post.

You mean Bill Ayers? Unlikely. I had no idea he was who they said he was. In grad school, I had to read a lot of his books on pedagogy (have an MA in education). He is a legend in that field. |

Well, according to Republicans and Conservatives, if you are for EDUCATION, you must be a TERRORIST!
SO, Merkurix, would you describe yourself as a terrorist or read any books by terrorists?
Now don't pull any of that loony liberal stuff...or use your education in education to get out of this one either! |

That is correct, JMO: if something you post requires that I expend time and energy figuring out what it is that you want to say, then I move on. If you feel that this identifies your writing -- and it probably does -- then it must suck to be you.
That will be all. |

Obama was 8 years old living in Hawaii as a kid during the WEATHER UNDERGROUND in the 1960s.
You have to FAST FORWARD to the 1990s to see the connection. Ayers is a leading scholar, professor, and everything else you can imagine in EDUCATION. Ayers lived in CHICAGO, Obama lived in CHICAGO.
Ayers, a leader in Education, filed for a GRANT from a former abassador to Great Britain under NIXON's administration, to put this grant money to use for EDUCATION. If you look into all of this far enough, you have to lock away all kinds of people for working towards EDUCATION GOALS and REFORM across America.
I know EDUCATION is bad in America, but lets not call people 'terrorists' or 'connected with terrorists' for working on EDUCATION REFORM! There are more conseratives/republicans home schooling their kids more than ever, I think we can all agree that our current education system is NOT WORKING regardless of your affiliation. Having prominent Education scholars working on it with politicians is not TERRORIST activity! |
