| Whenever anyone asks me what my blood type is, I just tell them they're falling for decades-old Nazi propaganda that was originally intended to demonstrate the inferiority of Jews and Asians. |
Actually, it was used before the Nazis. Some Europeans did it to map out racial movements between the various Caucasian groups and showed where A was more prevalent versus O in Europe and things like that, and how the blood type of people from the northern parts of the Middle East is often different from that of Arabians, because of the mixing with Europeans and the like. Of course, separating people based on blood types does tie into some form of prejudice, and it is a primitive concept, I think. |
True, but it was the Nazis who pointed out that Jews and Asians have a higher occurrence of type B, and inferred based on this that type B is obviously inferior. And it reached Japan through their Nazi allies |
It seems similar to the old medical theory of the four humours. |
Could be, but ABO blood types weren't discovered until about 1901. Rh wasn't discovered until over 30 years after, which accounts for why it isn't part of this whole superstition/propaganda. |

Strange thing is that people have only know about different blood types for just over 100 years.
Apparently it was something made up by some crazy Japanese scientist and the Koreans went crazy for it? I don't know if people believe this cr@p in Japan too? |

Well, this is Asia. They don't have the same history as we do over liberals fighting with fascists and with the fascists somewhat triumphing. Another difference is we have general standards and have more scientific thinking and freedom of expression, less conformity, and the like. However, some of the very religious minded and rural people of North America are nice and kind in many ways, but not focused as much on scientific reasoning on things like blood type. Some people in America believe O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh.
Anyway, Tiger Beer, how is Japan? |

It's just similar to how the Zodiac is seen in the West. Just a cultural difference. Many more women care about blood types (or Zodiac) signs than men do in both cultures. Though I admit more people care in Korea than the West.
There's an article on Wikipedia about it somewhere. Look it up! |

Much lower stress levels, for sure, but I think the pulse is missing altogether here, if I were to compare the two |

I just want to say "thanks" to hotspurcell for posting the link, which then helped lead me to other sources in order to help explain this silly popular
belief. I have wondered about the origins of this for years and years,
and now I know where it came from.
Question for anyone who may have an idea:
I have heard from various people that this blood type personality thing was also somehow used by Korean (and possibly Japanese) red cross agencies in order to get people to donate blood to help raise the always-important blood supply.
Anyone heard similarly or is it more possible that it is just b.s.?
Interesting topic though. |

No its not. Blood is red. Its not blue - thats simply poor perception.
Unless of course you suffer from some disease or condition. |
