We all know the famous Kebab man in Itaewon (behind Quiznos/old Burger King in the alley). He has great chicken kebabs. But now he has lamb kebabs for 4,000 won each. It is actually lamb and beef together, but beef is fabulous, too and I wouldn't have known it was a combination unless he told me.

Highly recommended.

Yep. Omar has both lamb and chicken for sale at the same time now. He remodeled/expanded his restaurant (sort of). I still prefer chicken, though!

"The" Uzbeki place? There are dozens of them in that area.

Details, location and reason, because I don't believe you.

Saw Omar today...as usual he couldn't keep his eyes off my wife. But what the heck, he gave us extra fat kebabs he could barely close them after making. Very Happy

There are also lamb and chicken kebabs in Hyehwa now at the Turkish ice cream place. Take exit 4 and walk left out of the exit (toward Sungkyunkwan University). It is on your right soon after CGV and Mister Donut.

It does not compare, however, to Omer's kebabs in Itaewon. If you are gonna travel, just go to Itaewon.

Capo is right...choose any of them, they're all great...Ask for 'yang-gogi sheshlik' (don't know the Russian word for lamb), but at 2-3000 won per skewer, they rock! Couple that with a 4,000won bowl of borscht, it beats Itaewon any time of day (or night)...

where, where, where? I have been to Dongdaemun several times trying to find these places, and can't find them. Am I looking in the wrong area? First I was told that they were behind the Doota mall, and I looked up and down those streets, but couldn't find anything. Another time I was told to go out by the gate, and I still couldn't find anything. Please do give detailed directions! My friends and I do want to try these places out.

On a slightly unrelated note, there's a great lamb skewer place in Sinchon. Walk from the rotary towards Yonsei, make a right at the big intersection going towards Krema and Chois Tacos. take that street until it merges with another major street, follow on the right. After the Mr. Pizza but beforethe starbucks, take a right into the alley. You'll see a Chinese restaurant. Thar she blows. Not 'kebab' but really good lamb skewers and I'm pretty sure lamb galbi as well.

That's because people say "Dongdaemun" when they should say "Dongdaemun Stadium." Go out Dongdaemun Stadium Station exit 12 (by the Fashion TV mall). Do a U-turn and walk so you are going west. At your first street you will see a Two Two Fried Chicken. Turn left there. Or continue to the next intersection and turn left there. Down those alleys/streets on the left are Uzbeki restaurants. I have a favorite which is nearly impossible to describe how to get to.

I think the ones right outside Quiznos, where that bum who drinks makkoli sits, are better.

I second this recommendation. You grill the skewers at your table and they're cheap - 7000 won for 10 skewers. They also have a location in Gyodae:

Lots of places in and around suwon station area. All run by Chinese-Koreans. Great earthy atmosphere too.
