Hi,
I was with Flying cows I would not recommend them firstly of the 4 positions I had one interview I got the impression pretty quickly they wanted some else, one of the schools was on the Hagwon blacklist but what got me was the underhanded and unprofessional behaviour of one schools, I was given a contact and I discussed some ideas she dismissed them totally, then I got a snippy little email saying they had someone else, that was really insulting & very unprofessional as I was under the impression she was a teacher and not the schools director. Needless to say I contacted Flying-cows and after 3 days I got a reply which was basicly I was taken off the books no threats they did it took a comment completely out of context the reason why, because I had negative feelings about Korea I had every right to be disillusioned. This was done after I had all my stuff for my Visa. So all I can say is that they are not trustworthy people but what rankles me is that I was the injured party and they did not even attempt to support me, I was not happy with the way I was treated and this is to warn people that they don't treat people with respect. Still I suppose the fact I have a non-english name, even though my family were here when English was an obscure dialect in a Dutch bog.

No but I suspect you have one chromosone too many. Maybe you should qualify your statements by using your brain before you open your mouth

Is worknplay an actual recruiter? I thought it was a website that posted jobs.

Yes, they're recruiters too (or at least, they were)... has something changed?

WNP's recruiters used to include a few ladies plus Henry, Ann, and Joyce, (the latter 3 split off and formed Korvia). That was a few years ago. Since then, I thought WNP still has staff to recruit teachers as well.

I know this has been raised before (quite contentiously) but I'm working with a group not on the poll -- ASK Now -- and they've been pretty good overall.

I asked a LOT of questions when I was getting ready to go here and got most of the replies I was looking for. Email took a bit longer but thanks to gmail's chat function there were a few times I'd pop them a message and get things solved live. Same with the Facebook group -- I posted a message to people in general but the first reply I got was from ASK Now themselves.

And when my apartment got robbed, they actually contacted me first -- they'd heard about it and checked up on me to make sure I was OK.

So, while I'm not in the best of situations here (who is), I'm willing to throw my two cents down with these guys.

I've said it so many times, ESL planet = Good

I had so many questions and emails about stuff they responded to all of them within a day. Usually within minutes that it was sent.

They take good care of you before, during, (I don't know about after I'm not at that stage yet).

Obviously people will say you don't need a recruiter but I think ESL-Planet is an exception to the rule. They will clear up any confusion you have about ANYTHING. They're fabulous really.

Do you work for ESL Planet? Razz

Seriously, what has the recruiter done to "take care" of you? Have they paid you a penny? What sorts of things can you rely on a recruiter to clear up? I'm curious.

I worked with:

Appletree Recruiting and was very happy with their assistance and response times to my questions.

Footprints was very helpful but had few positions of interest to me.

OK Recruiting was informative and helpful every time we spoke or emailed.

I ended up being hired directly from a school and it turned out to pay more that way as well. For any newbies considering the move, I would do some research on what schools and locations would best fit your interest and then contact the schools directly. Worked wonders for me.

ATOP & SmileEnglish are two recruiting agencies that will send you 10-20 new job listings per week but are less responsive when you inquire. The only responses I received from them were a week later and only to tell me the position has been filled and to try to talk me into talking a position in the sticks. And good luck getting them to stop sending you email job postings!

Koreaconnections.com was very good at answering questions and sending over jobs that matched the criteria I requested only.

Many of the recruiters in my experience simply sent me everything instead of looking at what I was interested in and narrowing it down for me. More of a ready, fire, aim approach.

Hope this helps....someone~

They are really good. They'll answer any question you have even if you don't sign with them. They also organize parties and ski trips for people in Korea. Solid team.

Sounds like self promotion to me Very Happy but anyway...

Does anyone know of a telephone number (no problem if I have to dial internationally) or rather ANY telephone number where a representative of ASKNOW can be reached during abnormal or normal working hours?

I don't know what kinds of "questions" you asked the recruiter, but keep in mind that the best and only result you can hope to obtain from a recruiter is an introduction to a good school. Short of accomplishing that, the recruiter has not done any recruiting to boast about. Have a nice day. Cool
