Three of their headlines, as of right now:
Obama: McCain admits he is like Bush
Palin's off-script comments irk McCain aides
Palin dubbed a 'diva' by McCain advisor
There was also the "Palin goes rogue" headline for the past three days.
Could CNN be any more slanted?

Sure. They could be more slanted. They could hold this Republican government to account for torture -including torture to death-, Iraq and the rest. They could report on the war profiteering, corruption at the FDA etc. The Republicans don't know how easy they've got it. |

There's always "balanced and fair" Fox headlines to make you feel better:

Omg, did you see the pic of the Palin doll in a noose?
Could you IMAGINE if it were an Obama doll? (I can't spell manequin. Or did I just do it?) |

I noticed that, too. Every media outlet has its politics -- and it advances them every way it can. Has been so in American politics since the 1770s. Check out D. Waldstreicher's In the Midst of Perpetual Fetes, a truly enjoyable look at this phenomenon in the Revolutionary and Early Republic eras, as Federalists, anti-Federalists, and others fought each other through their respective press organs. |

Hanging Palin dolls, fake facial carvings--the loonies in both camps are out this election.
You expected 100% sanity? |

Will there be a McCain one on a few minutes (after his speech)? |

Well he is a "muslim terrorist" after all...with "Kill him!" shouted at political rallies.
Give it some time...it's not quite Halloween yet--I'm sure we'll be seeing more displays in bad taste. |

Here is CNN right now:
"Palin going off script; McCain aids gripe"
"New polls show bad sign for McCain"
"Biden to reporter: 'Are you joking?'"
"What would you ask Obama?"
Here is FoxNews right now:
"Spread the wealth tragedy"
"McCain holds rally in Ohio"
"Biden: Anchor's way off the Marx"
"Political extreme" (the S. Palin mannequin story)
Here is MSNBC right now:
"When Mom loves McCain and daughter dotes on Obama"
"Will 'Obama effect' help McCain win?"
"Palin says 'I'd never spend that' on clothes"
(what? is MSNBC becoming a tabloid?)
Here is NPR right now:
"Obama and McCain ratchet up ground game in Ohio"
"Newspapers endorse presidential candidates"
"Arkansas voters to decide on unmarried adoption"
"Global stocks take another beating"
We can look at this and see which sources seem more interested and engaged in influencing pubic opinion, either way, and the one lone source that makes a noble effort to stay above the fray... |

Well, an Obama doll hung that way would likely be intended as a reference to lynching, assuming that the person doing the hanging had even the slightest clue about history.
Personal biography of the target does make a difference in judging the appropriateness of any invective. It's usually okay, for example, to call a candidate's economic policies "a train wreck waiting to happen". But if you know for a fact that that candidate's wife and child were killed in a train collision the year before, you should probably find another metaphor, or run the risk of being labelled a Grade A Asshole. |

Well, that's how it would be interpreted, I'm sure. |

Well, like I say, I don't think there could be too many Americans who would be able to hang a black man in effigy, and then sincerely claim to be totally clueless that it could be taken as a reference to lynching. You'd have to be Joe Blow Slovko just off the boat from Rootabagia to not see the implications. |

Ha.
So race, class, and gender discrimination and mock lynchings are off-limits when applied to a black male, but no problem when applied to a conservative, white, woman?
Leftist hypocrisy at its finest. |
