Well I hope to god they don't start applying hogwon practices in Vietnam cos the Vietnamese are much, much better employers than Korean. Vietnamese kids also have a heck of a lot more respect for teachers too.

great!!

these kids already had enough stress in their lives..

now they have the extra stress of having to study Konglish and Korean - just so that when they are "of age" they can get married off to some Korean farmer adjoshi..

When I read the title of the thread I thought there would be an announcement that Koreans would no longer be traveling to Vietnam.

Well, it is a positive thing if some Koreans are legitimately wanting to help these Vietnamese sans proselytizing to them. There are plenty of decent Koreans.

As far as the Vietnamese as employers, do the Vietnamese employers have a better reputation in terms of how they treat foreign teachers.
We do know in Korea it is not strange for a Korean employer to exploit his workers, abuse their human rights, not pay them etc.... That's why many people in the Phillipines and Asia are leary of Koreans. That's the government's fault, because they could change Korean culture by making sure laws on the books are enforced and give us E2s some more flexibility.

Viet is not the only ethnic group in that country. There are plenty of Han-Viet (Vietnamese of Chinese descent). Some Han-Viet families continue to name their children with Chinese names and others give their children Vietnamese names. Kinh (Viet) account for approximately 86% of the population. The next largest groups are the Tay, the Thai, the Muong, and the Khmer. The Han-Viet (or Hoa) only account for about 1% of the population).

Here is an interesting bit about the surname Le.
