I tried doing a search for anything down by me, came up with nothing. I live in Jeollanamdo province, near Gwangju. Anyone know of a used furniture place where I can get a queen-size bedframe? Nothing fancy, I just want my brand new mattress off the floor.

Every time I see one in the classifieds, its 4-6 hours away from me.

hey.. i don't think i am much help actually, but check out the jeollamdo second hand store on facebook, sometimes things pop up. I live in Gwangju and there isn't much from what i've noticed. but if you go to a furniture shop anywhere (particularly in Buk-gu by Home Plus) you can get furniture cheap.. just show them cash and walk out if youre not interested.

I cant even get a taxi to take me to Home Plus! They just look at me stupidly when I ask! Is there some secret way of asking in Korean I don't know about? I was sure the Koreans call it "Home Plus" also

I don't have a facebook account. I almost don't want to start one after hearing how hard it is to delete. Should I be worried? Do you have to have an account to view the second hand store?

The furniture shops in Yeonggwang will not negotiate. If you start to walk out, then you end up walking out. I am good at bargaining. The only time I ever saved money was when I tucked most of my money in my sock, opened my wallet and claimed I had nothing left. Here, they still think all native speakers are ultra-rich and high-paid!

Thanks for your help, I will check it out.

I just laughed my b*lls off. Thanks, now I have to go find my b*lls!

I did try that though. I remembered from my days when they were confused by E-mart and I had to resort to eee-martuh.

I discovered another way that works really well. I carry around a large writing pad that fits in my front pocket. When trying to find COSTCO, no one understood it when I said it, even if I said everything else in Korean. So I started writing COSTCO in big letters on one piece of paper and showing it to them. They immediately respond with: "Oh, you mean Cost-u-t-co" or however that person decides to pronounce it at that particular moment in time. But they always know what I want and the rest of the story ends up with a happy ending. Well, a G rated happy ending.
