A public school offers a 10 pyeong housing. Any comments about the size, please?

That would be a small studio apartment.

Perhaps a bit smaller than average.

1 pyeong = 3.3 square meters.

By law, the realtors (along with anyone else advertising the size of housing) must give the area in square meters.

So a 10-Pyeong place is about 100 sq ft?

1 pyong = 3.3 sq m = 35.6 sq ft.

10 pyong is about 350 sq ft.

I lived in an 8 pyong for a semester. It was small, but maybe OK if you are coming from a college dorm. If you are coming from a nice US studio, it might seem small.

If it has a balcony and a window with a nice view, 10 pyong could be livable.
If no balcony and no view, it is too small.

The size is hard to determine. 10 pyeong is equal to 33.3 sq meters which is equal to about 258 square feet.
The difficult thing to measure is if this is the actual size of the apartment itself or the total size.
Some places calculate building space along with apartment space in order to come up with calculations for building maintenance fees. If it's an officetel 10 pyeong is pretty small since it has better public facilities while in just a standard villa it is much bigger since there is less public space.
10 pyeong isn't that big but it usually is enough for a single teacher. The size also matters considering where you will be living. If it's in a major city or suburb it's not that bad since the rent itself is much higher.

Housing in Gapyeong isn't too bad in terms of price but I don't know how large the market would be for single sized places.
Having a balcony is a definite plus and a separate laundry room shouldn't be too much of a problem. If they have dryers there I'd actually prefer using that then using the washer in my place.

I would prefer to have mine inside my place so I dont have to go up to the 8th floor or roof to do laundry. Having a washer/dryer combo inside my place with a balcony would rock though.

I love having my shit box washing machine right inside my apartment. I don't have space so it's rightnexttothetoilet but I'd rather have it there than in the basement.

Unless yuo are living in an expensive part of Seoul, 10 pyeong in small for public school. The get a certain amount each month from the government for your rent and get key money so if they are shorting you on a small apartmen (and it's not an expensive area like Gangnam) the school is pocketing what they should be using for your housing.

If I were you, I'd ask them what the rent is and compare what they are paying to what they are being given. If it's a big difference, I would refuse the apartment or ask for cash. Of course, they could lie to you... This is Korea...

My public school put the previous teacher in a tiny hole in the sticks. Maybe 7-8 pyeong from the pics she showed me. She complained, got moved to a bigger place in a better location. Maybe 10 pyeong. I came, I complained, got moved to a place that was about 13 pyeong in a better location.

I should be completely over it but I still think they were total pricks and am annoyed by how bad my dice roll turned out.
