I may be finding myself in NZ in March and am looking at things to do there while I tour the country.
I saw this is happening in March and wondered if anyone has been to one before and what can they tell me about it and where they found thier accommodation.

Hello
The festival is great! I would definitely recommend going along. It does get really busy, but there's a lot of food available, and every one seems to end up dancing by the end of it all
However, whilst there is plenty of accommodation, it does get booked up VERY quickly. Hokitika schools become camping grounds which are fairly cheap, and very central. I would recommend booking now!
Also, if you're going to be in the South Island, I highly recommend cycling around the Blenheim wine trail, and also doing Arthurs Pass.
Although admittedly, slightly biased, I think you'll have a fabulous time in NZ |

Thanks for that info.
I read a review that also recommended staying in Greymouth and taking the bus that runs from there. What do you think? |

I've never been to Greymouth, so I wouldn't know what the place is like.
I suppose it depends on how much you like your creature comforts! If you stayed in Hokitika, it's likely you'd be camping at the school, which is fairly basic, but I think you could probably get a motel in Greymouth.
Personally I'd stay in Hokitika, unless you can find out what time the last bus will head back to Greymouth. I have a nasty feeling it may be earlier then you'd like, especially if you want to enjoy the party / dancing that goes off a bit later on.
Hope that helps |
