Europe worred about Obama

Sarkozy is very critical of Obama's position on Iran.

Quote:
Sarkozy views the Democratic candidate's stance on Iran as "utterly immature" and comprised of "formulations empty of all content."
Sarkozy fears that Obama might "arrogantly" ignore the other members of this front and open a direct dialogue with Iran without preconditions.
The French intelligence community believes that Iran has already obtained about 40 percent of the enriched uranium it would need for its first bomb, and that at its current rate, it will obtain the rest of the uranium it needs in the spring or summer of 2009.

Well, that's one endorsement the Republicans probably can't do much with.

"Wake up America!! Obama is a dangerous left-wing appeaser!! If you can't trust the president of FRANCE to tell it like it is, who can you trust??"

Isn't Sarko (and his ex-wife) the one who's known for breezing in at the last moment diplomatically and 'saving the day'--much to the piss-offedness of others who'd done all the footwork (preconditions?)

I wonder what Sarko has to say about the US talking to the Taliban:

I find the timing of this decision quite interesting.

We are almost there, Kuros. Almost at the point where I get to start saying "I told you so."

I think my prospects will look much better, however, after B. Obama wins and responds to his first Middle-Eastern crisis...I am guessing sometime before fall 2009.

That Obama-mania would turn quickly.

He's prolly right. He would be president of the United States, not United Nations.

My I-told-you-so is not directed at you but rather B. Obama's hardcore supporters. People will be turning on Obamaman, son of Jor-El, the antiwar messiah who will smooth everything over with "the rest of the world," soon after his inaugural. This piece of news comes as a tantalizing first taste.

He's still better than Sarah Palin (though I still think I might actually have a hard time deciding between Obama and McCain if she wasn't on the ticket).

I am not making an argument that people should vote for McCain-Palin. I am predicting that people will turn against B. Obama once elected.

Here is another one. But I suspect C. Brown is merely "establishing" that she critiques both sides...

There is nothing wrong with talking but talking w/o leverage is not going to work.

What's is Sen Obama's plan then? He doesn't have one.

Don't know about 'turning away' from Obama.

I think what you see is a world that is fascinated by the U.S. election and interested in Barack Obama more than they are in John McCain.

I've never met any country excited about U.S. policies or any aspect of the U.S. government in ANYTHING international whatsoever, so if you are looking for Obama to make that happen, then yeah, you WOULD BE expecting A LOT.

The people who agree with Sarkozy on this issue are likely not the same people who are currently burning American flags and making "Dubya" jokes in Europe and Canada. They are more likely the people who, while maybe not entirely enamoured of Bush himself, generally like to see Ameican power projected on the world stage.

So, no. Youre not going to see the pseudo-left anti-American crowd turning against Obama for being TOO SOFT on renegade states like Iran. I predict that most of those guys will keep mum about any unsavoury actions commited by a President Obama, if for no other reason than that most of them have a psychological block against ridiculing a black man with an African name. Furthermore, the soft-left in Europe and elsewhere tends to swoon over patrician-sounding Dmocrats.

According to the site, the source reporting these alleged Sarkozy comments was Israeli. Although it could very well be a factual report, I read it with some skepticism considering that many in the Israeli gov't, and many Israelis in general, apparently see this election as crucial to their own interests.
