Once you are issued a visa after submitting your criminal background check, do you have to re-submit it every time (a la your diploma) or is it one-time only? Anyone know?

I'm going to do a winter camp and then a new job starting in March, so I'm curious.

I thought I read somewhere that the first time was enough.

(Just got my FBI check in the mail... so far only a 7 on the 10-point annoyance scale.)

If you are changing employers ie. not renewing with the same employer, then you will need to submit a new crc with your application package to immigration.

Not true. I've called immigration twice...the second time to verify what the first person told me and both times they said that you do NOT need a second one. You may want to get one anyway in case the immi office you go to won't accept what the main immi office says though. Rolling Eyes

Yeah, I think the CRC is good for six months, but I'm not positive on this.

I submitted my CRC in early March of 2008. I took it to immi myself. I will be starting a new job in March of 2009. They told me that I didn't need another one.

You can call immi yourself at 1345. The first message starts out in Korean, but there is a number you press for English and a number you press for what you want (office hours, locations, or to speak with an official).

For your initial application with CRC, it cannot be older than 6 months. Once you have submitted it, you no longer need to submit another one when switching jobs after a year contract or if you are extending a contract. I just submitted paperwork for a teacher who had submitted his CRC in Feb with another school. We didn't submit a 2nd CRC. We got his issuance number today.

Thanks ajumma and polonius! This is really great news!

It really didn't make any sense to me that you'd have to submit another CRC while you've been in Korea the whole time since.

I guess if I change jobs, all I would need is my sealed transcript along with a release letter/exit order. Should've gotten more transcripts sent last time. Oh well.

Let me just add, that is, if you submitted your CRC AFTER the new December 15th regulations took place. For that I am certain. I am not certain if you worked at a PS, and submitted, if you are allowed to apply sans CRC.

That's excellent news! Thanks for the answer.

But it begs the question, why do we have to submit diplomas each time? Confused
