Where would you rather live? Bundang at Subway Station Yaptap or Anyang/Pyeongchon at subway station BeomGye?

Given those 2 locations - Yatap, hands down.
Kims club, home ever, all the western fast food outlets, theaters, bus terminal so you have access to EVERYWHERE in Korea, parks, the Tancheon, easy access to central Seoul...

As far as I know, Anyang is a stinking hell hole infested by vermin and blood coughing ajosshis with the charm of a raccoon's butt crack.
Bundang however is a "new town". Bundang is nice! cleaner and safer. But quite far from central seoul though. So is Anyang. |

It's not that close, plus you'd have to transfer. Line 2 will take you to pretty much anywhere worth going in Seoul or within walking distance of anywhere worth going in seoul. |

Why do you think Bundang is nicer? |
Because if you compare Bundang's nicest area versus Anyang's nicest area (like Pyeongchon), Bundang wins easily. I have lived in the nicer areas in Pyeongchon and it's either really boring, or you have a few blocks of skanky "Love Motels", DVD Rooms, and bars where you see drunk adjumma's and adjoshi's staggering out after work at night, and hordes of students during the day. Bundang not only has nicer, more upscale neighborhoods they also have a lot better areas for night life - if you're into that.
Also to get to places like Hongdae, Sinchon, Gangnam, Lotte Mart, Yongsan, Namdaemun, Dongdaemun, etc., it's A FUCKING HIKE man...even by subway you have to take a few different lines and it takes 45min to an hour to get anywhere over 10 stops.
Personally, i'd choose neither though. For me Gangnam or Sinchon would be the best to live. |

Yatap vs. Beomgye.....Yatap is certainly newer but Beomgye is a fun area.
I'd say you're looking at similar times into Seoul with Anyang being much quicker to places like Hongdae.
Also, a lot of people who live in Bundang fudge figures when talking about times into Seoul. Sure, it might be possible to be downtown in 40 minutes when there is ZERO traffic....but the reality is usually much much much different.
Let's put it like this. I study Korean at SNU in Southern Seoul and I live in Anyang. It takes me 45 minutes and it takes the guy from Bundang an hour and a half.
Anyways, it would probably depend on the job...or a coin toss. |

From Yatap, you can take a 5 minute subway ride to Seohyun and then get on an express bus which will take you to Gangnam in 25 minutes, Itaewon in 35-40, or Hongdae in 40-45. It's nice to be able to walk out my door and get on a bus which is twice as fast as the subway. |

?? Pyeongchon has all of that. Home Plus, Emart, Kim's Club, big central park with skateboarding, tennis, nice fountains in the summer, bike paths (ride your bike to the han river in seoul in 45 minutes, all on the bike paths). Big hospital, Convenient airport bus, lots of places to drink (both in Beomgye and 1-bon-ga), an actual train station, close-ish to the KTX station at Gwangmyong, 25 minutes to Sadang (gateway to Seoul!), etc, etc. All of it is the same or better than Bundang.
In bundang the only possible benefit is a marginally bigger selection of foreign restaurants. That said, 40 minutes on the 4 line from Beomgye gets you to Ansan station and a LOT of great, cheap, authentic viet, indian, indonesian, chinese food (b/c of the big foreign community there) -- oh, and 20,000 won cases of Tsingdao beer!
I've been to Bundang a few times, and it's a bit less convenient IMO. Both aren't actually that far from each other -- 30 minutes by bus if there's little traffic.
All that said, Bundang seems like a nice place and I'm sure you can't really go wrong with either. It's certainly better than living in Ilsan! |

I just got fired from a job in Yatap and got a new job on the edge of Anyang. Anyang wins it by far for me. Less sterile, fewer yuppies, better scenery, less construction, easier to get around in, better nightlife, fewer yuppies (gotta mention that one twice), and better access up to Seoul by a little. Also, Anyang is better for getting to the surrounding towns of Gyunggi, including Suwon, Uiwang, Gwangmyung, and Incheon. |

Homever is now Homeplus, I hear. Haven't been that way in a while myself, though. Is Kim's Club even around anymore? The one at Seohyun was remodled. I think Yatap's is still there, but it kinda sucked last I knew.
I'd rather live in Bundang, too. |
