Yes. That about sums it up. Hopefully he does the decent thing.

By that I mean of course, go back to his party boy ways and bang Sarah Palin while doing coke off her back. That would be an awesome news cycle.

Of course Kuros, despite your too often attempts at "legalese" - the U.S. is NOT above the law. Even if they don't belong to civilized organizations. My answer -

Same as Milosovic, International Criminal court in the Hague.
LOTS of evidence exists and after the election, all the rats will come out of their holes with more.

For the record - I'M AGAINST OBAMA. Further, I'm not comparing. Still kill one or kill a million - it is the same crime and same punishment. The sanctity of human life demands we pursue this justice...

From a practical point of view, it is highly unlikely he will be prosecuted for war crimes.

Perhaps not, but renowned Attorney Vincent Bugliosi has vowed to seek The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder under U.S. law and makes a damn good case for it in the outline of the case which is his book.

That guy again.

Which prosecutor exactly has taken on this case, Bacasper? And which jurisdiction exactly has agreed to judge the President? Any warrants in the works? Or is this all just a bunch of hysterical, hot air?

Gopher,

Under the International Criminal Court, IF Bush is not prosecuted by his own citizens when he vacates office (this avenue must first be exhausted), then it is encumbent on the court to hear petitions and take action.

There are enough nation states who would bring Bush to the courts attention and much evidence. Lock , Stock and 5 barrels. Listen to This editorial, even the right of center thinks it a continuation of horrible foreign policy.

We don't just have the situation of blowback but we also have a president that doesn't respect the foundation of international law (borders) and who has directly given orders which knowingly have killed civilians. That Bush and his team accept a revolving number of civilian casualties and give disregard to human life makes him/them vile and evil (there is paper evidence that this is in fact policy). No doubt about it. This attack into Syria knowingly killed / maimed civilians. Bush had to have given the orders -- no court would believe otherwise. The U.S. is not some renegade state. Bush is implicated enough to be charged.

About Obama. I once held out hope... I continued to for quite some time also. but I now see that his isn't some hidden game to get elected but rather he's sold his soul to the highest bidder and devil.

My first whiff of his insincerity came about 6-7 months ago with the death of Fadl Shana (sp?) , a Reuters camera man targeted by Israel and blown up (not by mistake!). Obama deflected a question about him and just said he still thought Israel had the right to self defense bla bla bla....then came the ensuing endorsements from the Israeli lobby, his tough talk about invading other countries if necessary and his declaration to "take it to them" in Afghanistan.

He's a smart cookie but I prefer to know the devil I'd be dealing with.....He's bought and soon to be sold. In any case, I don't see him ever being President despite what others think. I know that there will be more to this story than just a straight and cheering walk up the White House steps.

Anyways, back to Bush. Stupidity should not be a defense. He'll get his when the knives come out....

There is too much in your response and it wanders. What does C. Johnson's "blowback" nonsense have to do with this hypothetical legal proceeding?

ddeubel wrote:

Courts want evidence. What is your evidence that (a) W. Bush issued "the orders"; and that (b) those orders included "kill civilians?" Also, we are at war, with an army on the ground and a navy in the Gulf and the Eastern Med. If Syria has involved itself in this war, against us, then we shall attack it. If Syria dislikes this, it appears to have several alternatives as far as response goes.

And I agree with you on Israel: that will be one of many points where all of B. Obama's antiAmerican and antiwar-type supporters, especially those in "the rest of the world," etc., will bitterly turn against him.

As soon as you have one or two op-ed pieces you will claim this and then go on to claim, that the world hates him like Bush. People will say, "but it's a matter of scale" or "those are just op-ed pieces". You will call these people smug elitists(if they are from Europe) and imply that because one op-ed piece states something, that it is the opinion of a country of people.

See. I can predict the future. Now we don't have to live it, because this future is oh so very boring.

Vermont candidate to prosecute Bush if she wins

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Friday, September 19th 2008, 11:21 AM

BURLINGTON, Vermont - Lots of political candidates make campaign promises. But not like Charlotte Dennett's.

Dennett, 61, the Progressive Party's candidate for Attorney General of the northeastern state of Vermont, said Thursday she will prosecute President George W. Bush for murder if she is elected Nov. 4.

Dennett, an attorney and investigative journalist, says Bush must be held accountable for the deaths of thousands of people in Iraq U.S. soldiers and Iraqi civilians. She believes Vermont's top lawyer would have jurisdiction to do so.
