And if it is that way, so be it, nut.
As I sit here, I had no choice bringing dollars to Korea because I will need to use it for key money on a house. It's just nicer to bring it in at 1400 to the dollar instead of 950, like it was when I sent it over there last summer.
That money will be locked up for 2 years, and I won't be able to do anything with it anyway. By then, your doom and gloom forecast will likely have moved on to brighter days. |

sounds like you did the right thing for yourself
I totally understand pulling the won out of the atm from my u.s. account....making some won for expenses here without hurting my u.s. account as much as it did in June and July
i don't think of it as doom and gloom but just the way it is ...as you said...and things will grow over time |

I just hope that tomorrow we can see sustained improvement, or at the very least a leveling out. These constant fluctuations are ridiculous. If we can get it back into the 1100's again, I'll be pretty stoked. |

Yea. I agree.
I feel nautious every time the Won tumbles back towards the 1500 levels, but in reality I don't even have that much money on the line. One of my Korean friends works for his father importing and exporting goods from America. These price swings are KILLING him. Im taking millions here... If you think we have it bad, just think about the people here who's entire lively hood is based on that rate. And I think like 50% of Koreas economy is export driven. I couldn't imagine that kind of stress... |

It's already down to 1.063.. You might be right, but I don't wanna chance it. |
1,059.64 now at KEB.. damn.. I am scared.. planning on going tomorrow at lunch..
I am scared I am waiting to long, but .. oh well.. |
Crap, I can't decide if I want to go on my break today, or wait until tomorrow. I was going to do it yesterday when I got paid but it sucked yesterday. Such a big change! Almost as good as the first time I sent money home! |
I am going today.. not much better than yesterday.. but a bit.
1,051.16 for 1 CAD |

It now stands at 1277 won for a U.S. dollar. If you must exchange won for dollars, today's probably the day to do it. |

1287. I think it's time to sell +60 mill won...
Buyers and sellers are vaccillating right now. Kind of a standoff each side seeing what the other wants to do. When it breaks, whichever way it goes, I think it'll break hard for the rest of the day. I'm hoping there's a selloff/profit taking before the weekend, and it loses a 100 points before the ed of the day. Gonna happen? Doubt it....but we'll see. |

Really poet? Do tell more...
You sound like a sports commentaor watching a football game. Do you have your eyes on the currency trading pits? Is there a little birdy in your ear telling you what moves the gov't is about to make?
I know and you know that you're just as clueless as the rest of us.
I'm just calling you on it. |

You're starting to be a turd.
I have my eye on several different sites right now, watching it go up and down, up and down. If you can read candlestick charts, then you would see the same thing I'm seeing.
I didn't say anything about the government which says quite a bit about your reading skills and where you're coming from.
I said I think there's going to be profit taking before the market closes for the weekend. Operative words "I THINK".
You're not calling me on anything because I haven't claimed to be anything.
SOLD AT 1293.1 Rate is now 1301.1. Lets see where this goes..
I think you're just jealous that I'm up almost 6 million in a week. |

Wait, the won is declining again?
Seriously, what the f*ck? I could kill someone without batting an eye right now. |

1307.3 at KB. I missed best price on the day by 15 won. Oh well. Hopefully next week it will plummet to new depths so I can buy it again.
Oh....wanderingross. In case you're tempted to be an ass, please note that as always, I haven't made a prediction, just expressing my most fervent desires. |

Yesterday's rate was an "artificial" rate. The US & Korean governments intervened in the market and caused the won to go up to 1250. Now, the market is bringing the won back down to its natural level.
An analogy that someone once told me: Let's say that you are the government, a golf ball is the won, and a hill is the market. A golf ball will roll down the hill. You can pick up the golf ball and walk up the hill with it, but as soon as you put it back down, it will roll back down to the bottom.
Lately the bottom has been somewhere in the upper 1400's. |

So 1300 is a natural level? You're saying that all those months and months and more months between 950 and 1050 were just an aberration? |
