My first was a German 8mm Mauser, along with a ton of surplus ammo. I had tons of fun with it (my best friend had one, too, and we were able to take down hill ridges with them). After a bit, though, I decided I wanted something a bit more handy, so I bought a Ruger 10/22; it was the best rifle I ever owned. However, I sold it after my wife and I moved back to the States back in '86. Years later, when I was doing historical research (research... yeah, that's what it was  ), I ended up buying several rifles and one sidearm. So, now I have one .50-cal Remington rolling block (1866), one .32-cal. Remington rolling block (1898), one .45-cal. Springfield trapdoor (1873), and one reproduction .36-cal. Navy Colt revolver. |

I miss my guns!!!
I got rid of my guns in February when I went home. Still feel sad about it!!!!!! The new regulations in South Africa make it very difficult to own guns and live abroad.
I had a Husqvarna 9.3x6.2 with the old mauser 89 (Can't remember but I think 89) bolt. My grandfather bought this rifle when he was a young man and it was passed down to me after my father couldn't hunt anymore. What an amazing rifle. It had a a nice solid kick to it. Broke my heart to sell it.
I also had a Beretta 12 bore up & under skeet gun. I can't remember the choke on each barrel though. I tried to find my model on the internet but it was difficult. My father bought it about 35 years ago for about R300 ($30 at current exchange rates) I used it as a field gun with great success. |

I'm a bit noob on guns but i've always been partial to the ASP.

not widely used, a "spy" gun if it were.
I'm just enamored by the lexan plastic clip that allows you to see how many rounds you have. The guttersnipe is pretty tight too. |

H&K ranks among the best handguns, especially their law-enforcement-modified models. And I still like Colt's Combat Commander for concealed carry.
No one has mentioned ammunition yet. I used to carry these while working casino surveillance. I understand that air marshals carry them onboard aircraft today. |

Back home I have an AK Saiga .308. Its a semi-auto rifle based off the AK-74. Mine has a 19" barrel, so it is LOUD. It is by far the loudest .308 caliber gun I've ever fired.

Never had guns in the house as my grandfather was a war veteran and my parents were hippies. But I did love to shoot.
In the military I fired a C-7 (M16A2A3 / 5.56mm with a scope) and, once, a C-7 (M203 CF variant). C-7s at night with tracers are a lot of fun. I didn't realize how much damage I did until we pulled our targets in. I'd love to do that again (without joining the CF again, of course).
When I was a kid I used to love my .22, only because it was the only gun my parents let me keep. I also had a fair collection of BB/Pellet rifles, starting with a Red Ryder up to a few break downs and a C02-powered Luger.
The gun I spent the most time with aside from the ones I had in the house was a restored, WW2 Era .303, bolt-action rifle. The accuracy was good and I entered a number of provincial youth competitions with it. The organization I was with originally used the FN rifle and had recently switched to the .303 when I joined. Shortly after I left, the insurance companies started belly aching and the kids had to drop down to air rifles. Now, I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't allowed to shoot period.
I believe the FNs were retired by the CF which made us unable to use them. From what I heard, the .303 was more fun anyway. I fired it with a bayonet a few times as well, lots of fun to be had. |

If it's for self defense, I'd do your research first. Best bet would probably be a revolver. Make sure that you know how to fire it. Never carry a gun for self defense that you haven't put at least a hundred rounds through. At least.
I wouldn't get a derringer myself, and an auto is probably going to jam on you when you need it-or you'll have the safety on at the worst time. Revolvers are kinda foolproof. And I wouldn't be strapping any gun of any kind to my loins.
There's a 22 magnum that would go into a boot but for a purse gun I wouldn't get less than a .38. Best revolver cartridge for the average lady imo. |

Haha! I saw that video a few weeks ago. You could probably f*ck up a tank with that if you had explosive rounds. I wouldn't want to be on the other end of that thing! |

Whatever. If you don't think guns are at least a little bit cool, then you must be:
A) On a pretentious high horse
B) Not in touch with yourself
C) A chick
or
D) Gay
Not that there is anything wrong with the last two... Just no need to criticize the rest of us  |
