Maybe the bit about 'hanging' was what was so offensive? |

They were only arrested because they actually did something ilegal, not just hanging an effigy.

Fischer and Bush were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, burglary and theft by unlawful taking, police said. |
I guess you were the only one who said the Palin effigy was okay:

Race, class, and gender, standard procedure. Black males of any class may be victims; middle-class white females, provided no white males of any class are involved as aggressors, their only role in this schema, may not. No more to it than that.
And the "they did something illegal" part, Bangbayed, served as the pretext to arrest and punish them for simulating a public B. Obama hanging. Keep your eye on the ball, please.

Race, class, gender?
It's all self-correcting.
Middle-class females are not victims?
Who, then, is getting pregnant so that they can get an abortion?
Someone has become quite the feminist.

Pretext? I though they should've cuffed 'em and then tazered 'em. |

Hello, Mrs. Gopher. Still worked up and reciting bits and pieces of position I have taken on this board that go back several years, I see. But you failed to mention the penguins.
Seek help. Obsession is a serious mental-illness condition.

Idiocy aside, from a legal standpoint, what you do on your property is largely your business. What you do on other peoples' property is their business. |

Never saw you as a libertarian before.
No, Canuckistan, you may not largely do as you please as long as you confine it to your property. The rules apply on your property as well, for landowners, for employers, for homeowners, the list goes on.
You cannot conceal the palpable double-standard here: it is all right in America to stage a mock hanging of Sarah Palin (conservative, middle-class, white woman) but not all right to do the same to Barack Obama (liberal, upper middle-class, black man). The race, class, and gender people have seen to that.
...still waiting for Mrs. Gopher's really outraged, self-righteous response to my retort...my very own lipstick-clad pitbull, if you will, Canuckistan.

My lord, I've just been reviewing this statement, and I find it both extremist and anti-establishment. This kind of statement could only have been written by an anti-American.
Watch this guy. |

Creating pretexts, Lady Leatherneck?

Have you seen CNN expressing their approval?
We know the charges in Kentucky. What, from your Olympian position, would you say the charges (which are obviously being swept under the rug) might be in the case of the Palin effigy?
Don't have an answer? |

Goph, you really need to become a better sport about things.
And strive for better reading comprehension.
Idiocy aside, legal standpoint, etc. |

Especially when you're envisioning her as a part of the Republican future.
She's done a week from now. All of this crowd-igniting, hysteria-inspiring nonsense is just that.
But, maybe I'm wrong. It would be awesome to see the GOP embrace her full-on.
PS: Don't cherry-pick this and ignore your responsibility to explain what the charges are in the Palin effigy case.
Better yet, talk to the room about how you're so above answering. |

Tag-teamed by Dave's ESL Cafe far-left hypocrisy-triumvirate again! Reprimanded by a mod for being a bad sport, even when an obsessed poster chronically appears and bitterly and sarcastically restates positions I took here in 2004 and 2005, no less.
Shrug. Carry on. You were apologizing for those who staged a mock hanging of Sarah Palin and justifying police action against those who staged a mock hanging of Barack Obama... |

Hypocrisy? Sometime, when you're not too busy calling me a girl, labeling evreyone who disagrees with you anti-American, or otherwise citing books whose arguments you repeatedly fail to share, find the time to show where I've been a hypocrite, Mr. Board Cleaner Upper.

2004? You were here in 2004? No, you weren't. Hypocrisy levels were far lower at that time. Does it really matter what year you announced that feminists were getting pregnant just to get abortions? No, it doesn't. Of course, you're still free to rescind that notion like the time you rescinded your claim that the gay penguin book was a plot to overthrow heterosexuality. ROFL.

No, someone was pointing out to you that what the Kentucky frat boys did was illegal. You, after years of pap about respect for the law and anti-Americanism, were insinuating that the charges were cooked up. At the same time, issues of what one can do on one's own private property were mentioned, and you jumped in to announce that:
Quote: |
No, Canuckistan, you may not largely do as you please as long as you confine it to your property. The rules apply on your property as well, for landowners, for employers, for homeowners, the list goes on. |
This is a very ambiguous statement, but context suggests you're saying the Palin effigy is illegal AND that there's some kind of parity with the Kentucky frat boys, who were not charged for the Obama effigy but other infringements upon the law. You imply some kind of conspiracy is afoot in the charging of the Kentucky frat boys, and, when asked to provide a charge in the Palin effigy case, you retreat to feeling sorry for yourself because, boo hoo, you've been tag-teamed.
Poor you. You could, of course, still offer up what the charge would be.
Alternatively, you could just mumble something to the room, rail on about CNN, or go back to calling me a girl because you can't respond to valid points about your shrill cries of unfairness. |
