With current exchange rates, prices for English books are going through the roof. Most of us have at least a few, some of us have a lot of books we've already read and have no more use for. Instead of just letting your books sit around gathering dust, while you head out every weekend to drop another 20,000 won per book, why not list them here to trade or sell. We could all end up with the books we want for free or at least much cheaper this way. here's a link to my other thread with my books for sale/trade and the books I am looking for,

I'm a voracious reader, and I'll give most anything a go. I've only been here for three weeks and I've already got three books I've finished.
If anyone in Busan wants to do a book swap let me know. |

If everyone would set up an account with bookcrossing.com and then register their books it would be super easy to see what everyone has, what everyone wants, and then to arrange trades, meet ups etc.
Anyone interested? |

I signed up for Bookcrossing, but am not 100% sure how it works. It seems that its more in the spirit of releasing your books "out there" (not really sure what that means), and not so much with swapping or getting people together. Am I missing something? I did a search on Korea, and there seems to be lots of people. But the only books I could find that were "released" or available, were at a French international school, and the MWR library on Yongsan base. So just wondering who the rest of you are on there, and how we can get to swapping. |

i signed up also, but it is not really what i want. there doesn't seem to be a way to search for available books by region. Also, it is not my intention to simply "release" my books for free. i paid alot of money for them and want to get something back, which i would then put toward attaining all the other books i want. when i started this thread my intention was to get people to list the books they have for sale/trade as well as the books they were looking for. but if no one wants to do it, so be it. |

Didn't there used to be a book exchange group in Itaewon? I think they met at the Wolfhound? I just bought one book with the intention of swapping on and on rather than going out to buy things.
The book is The Great Gatsby if anyone is interested! |

I forget when it is, but I have so many books I haven't read that it will be awhile before I need to go. It's Sunday afternoons, but I can't remember which. First of the month? Second? Third?
I have: trashy novels
I want: different trashy novels

I vote for a Dave's "book swap" thread or forum where we can all list our books and sell to each other! |

I use http://www.bookmooch.com/m/ to get different book. You list so many books and you get points for people wanting your books and then you mooch books from other people. Shipping outside of Korea is kind of expensive so I would put down "only my country" in the options.
Here the books currently available in Korea - All English books. The more people on the site, the more trading we can do.

Book crossing is certianly about releasing your books "out there" but controlled releases are just as acceptable. Controlled releases can work as trades or just passing your book to someone who wishes to read it. |
