I know that people have said good things about using KEB, especially for sending money back to a US account, so I'm curious which branch would you recommend for opening an account. I guess I'm trying to figure out which one has been conducive to making wire transfers, providing an international card, and speaks decent English so that it's not a crap shoot every time you go into the bank.
I'm going to have to establish an account soon as the first paycheck comes on the 10th. I know my boss has a bank he wants everyone to use, but I want to establish an account with a bank that I know will make this journey a lot less of a hassle over time. |

I like the one in the Hyundai Department Store in Dong-gu, Ulsan! That probably won't help you unless you are in Ulsan, but I thought I would throw it out there since you didn't mention where you are. |

Good point. Sorry about that. I'm in Seoul, specifically in Gangnam_gu. |

The Itaewon branch has a separate area for foreigners, where all of the tellers speak English.
However, you probably still won't get an international ATM card. |

Here in Ulsan I got an international ATM. It states it can be used abroad on the back of the card. |

I have no doubt that it will work. It is clearly printed on the back that it can be used in international ATM's. It cannot be used as a debit card. Another teacher did not request this ability, got a different card, and cannot use it abroad. Again, this is clearly stated on the card. |

I will let you know next month. Nonetheless, others who have the same card have not had any problems at all in Japan, Thailand, and the US. |

I'd say any branch is a pick. Just go and try what you seek to do. If failing, then try again elsewhere. |

Itaewon is too busy though unless you have time on your hands to wait. |
