I was wondering if anyone knew of some good travel destinations for the winter break. I am looking for something that wont cost a bunch since the won is weak. I also wouldnt be opposed to staying in Korea but dont really know of big travel spots except for Busan and Jeju. Thanks for any help. |

AFTER you get past the cost of the airticket, everything else in south east Asia is still affordable - even with the weak won.
For short periods you can squeak by on US$30 per day and live like a king on US$100.
If you are looking at longer periods (to rent a room for a month or 2) it is easily do-able on less than $500 per month including local travel, dining and nights out.

SEA is lovely during Winter break. It's balmy warm sunny days in the land of smiles. This is when the Thai are smiling at their best due to it being high season. There's still plenty of accommodation and many are competing for your business in each town. High season is exciting... |

I've been looking for tickets to THailand or Philippines in late December, or February, but the cheapest ticket I can find is around 900k. I was hoping to get a stopover in Hong Kong via Cathay Pacific, but all seats seem to be sold out/reserved already. Unfortunately I may not get a chance to get out of Korea this winter |

Why not Taiwan? I've seen some pretty cheap flights. |

Three of my friends and I are going to the island of Boracay in the Philippines for a week during Christmas break. We have tickets from Incheon to Manila, then tickets from Manila to Caticlan, and a hotel for 6 nights. For all of that we have spent somewhere in the 900,000 won area. We are flying Korean Air out of Seoul, and Zest Air out of Manila. I have found better prices by doing my own research than any travel agent could offer. You can find good deals out there!! |

Depending on what you want to do there.. Taiwan in the winter isn't all that much fun :X Taipei is empty during Lunar New Year.. and it still freakin rains all winter. It's not too cold there but homes generally don't have heating so you're cold all the time so it feels colder than it really is. Though, if you're in a hotel, it should have heating. |

If you are going to Boracay, you should not have booked your tickets to far in advance from Manilla to Caticlan. You can get them cheaper right in Manilla. Prepare to be drunk 24/7 in Boracay. It's a party island. Just don't accidentally misplace your good friend's Beer Lao T-Shirt.
China...it doesn't matter about the temperature. Beijing is an amazing place to be in the winter. |
