Can you drive there yourself? Is a tour the way to go? Been here over a year and we are finally going to go.

This is true. I just went this past weekend. Going to the DMZ is almost like going to another country. You MUST have your passport (or ARC card) and you MUST be on an organized group tour. It's pretty intense, the military is looking over your shoulder the whole time. And here I thought my Dad and I were going to play a game of "Capture the North Korean Flag" ... It didn't happen.  |

| I have been to the DMZ from both sides (North and South) and was surprised about how laid back seeing it from the North side was. I did the South DMZ tour (with the USO) a couple of years ago and you can really feel the tension. After that, I did it from the DPRK side, and you don't get the same sense of potential danger and tension. |
